2019 Borders

SINCE YOU’RE ADDING IRON TIER, WILL BRONZE GET A BORDER? Going forward, you’ll actually have ranked armor and a loading screen border regardless of rank. That means Bronze and Iron tiers will both get borders when we start the new season. So why the change? When we started exploring the updates we wanted to make to Ranked, one of our big goals was to give you regular milestones and meaningful goals regardless of skill. To do that, it’s important that you be able to see and feel your progress from game to game as you’re climbing. If you don’t have ranked armor or a loading screen border below a certain skill level, you’d miss out on the awesome feeling of promoting from Iron to Bronze and seeing your armor and loading screen border level up when you queue for your next game. We think a better way to differentiate high skill players is to make their armor and border look more bright, polished, and visually impressive, so that’s what we’ll be doing going forward.

This seems like a way to open up harassment to lower skilled players as if they didn't have enough to deal with.

Personally, I haven't played Ranked in 2 years, and the only time I "Played" Ranked, was in Flex Queue. I only played this year because you had to be placed to play in Clash, (And we all know how that worked out...) I just... don't care enough.

honestly if people cared about getting harassed for their border then they would actually play ranked or try and improve to get better borders. Just about everyone i talk to that is either low elo or just dont play ranked (most of my friends) simply dont care about people talking shit. Kinda off topic. People already will harass you if your in bronze or silver even without the borders, they simply look up on op.gg and then talk shit. In normals people constantly talk shit whether your on their team or not. From my experience most people in ranked dont talk shit unless there is a reason for it. (someones misplay, or just in general bad)

Yeah, but the principle here is it will be even easier for people to get in a negative mood. "Oh, great I got a bronze/iron player. GG we lose." Of course without considering someone looking up on op.gg would see, "Well he's in bronze, but wait a minute he's only got 10 ranked games played, I guess he doesn't play ranked then."

not exactly even right now without looking up on op.gg if i dont see any border im assuming they are either bronze or havent placed yet. Even if someone gets placed in bronze that basically means you had to either A- duo with someone in bronze and still lose alot of games or B- ended near bronze in past seasons. On a fresh account even if you lose all 10 placement games your mmr will still place you around silver 5-4.

Most people dont actually think that they are gonna lose because they have a bronze or unranked player on their team. Simply because matchmaking matched them together so either way this "Bronze/Iron" player is still playing about as well as them.

And before you ask or say something, normals have their own mmr system besides ranked.

Keep in mind, Current borders show last seasons placement.

2019 borders will show your current standing.

And yes, I'm aware that Normals have their own MMR, But I doubt that xxToxicMcfartface69_420xx would know, or care. He thinks that he's going to lose because of silly things like, you didn't play champion X or you didn't Ban Champion Y or you took or banned Champion Z. So I don't think giving him free confirmation bias is a good thing.

Im aware that the new borders will show your current standing, but if you are in silver the chances are that everyone on your team or against you will also be silver. With the exception of duos and a few division differences. Either way everyone in your lobby will have an average mmr of your current mmr. Duos will only be in your game if their averaged mmr is the same as your current mmr. The only real reason people might rag on people for their current rank would be if they are at a higher ranking than them. Which is why i was moving the discussion towards normals, which could have some severe rank differences.

Im not worried about getting harassed for my rank simply because if its in ranked then their mmr is roughly the same, or in normals it doesnt matter since it has a seperate mmr which they would be currently in. No matter what if someone is harassing you for being the same mmr as them then they are an idiot and therefore you shouldnt let what they say bother you.

But ... everyone else on the team would have the same border ...

Iron for everyone!!!! But people can still claim they are a plat smurf and play like a wood tier.
