I've found in my little life experience that people get triggered when you talk shit to them, regardless of the setting. The general rule of thumb is to talk to the people the way you would like to be spoken to.

Unless you're a masochist, or possibly daft. Stop insulting people, your life will be better for it, you might actually make a few friends, who knows...stranger things have happened.

why do people feel need to shit talk others over a simple video game?

Making your post body simply "title" is a surefire way to get low-quality discussion. Maybe, next time, consider writing out your arguments and viewpoints instead of trying to condense it into one vague sentence?

why do you get so angry when people talk shit in a videogame?

'Cause we didn't sign up for people talking shit? Beyond that, CharDeeMcDenniz asked a better question, to which your response was;

its normal to get angry and hurl bm at people over a thing youre passionate about. not only that, but someone ruining a match by doing something that actually affects gameplay can make you waste 20-50mins of your time.

Let's start off by pointing out this:

not only that, but someone ruining a match by doing something that actually affects gameplay can make you waste 20-50mins of your time.

If this is one of your given scenarios, I can guarantee it's not shit-talk, but actually just flaming that's going on. And frankly, if you have someone on your team who's trolling, you flaming them is literally letting them win. They want you to flame them.

It's Internet 101 - don't feed the trolls.

its normal to get angry and hurl bm at people over a thing youre passionate about.

It's normal to get angry when things go wrong. It is not normal, however, to start attacking and harassing people when things go wrong.

At this point, I'm fairly certain you're just using "shit talk" as a synonym for "flame and toxicity", since nowhere in here do I see you mention shit-talking someone you've beaten in laning phase or anything like that.

It's not normal to flame. Flaming is done by people who lack self-control and even a modicum of respect for others.

As for this:

...over a thing youre passionate about.

If you're passionate about something, logic dictates that you'd do everything in your power to keep doing it. Flaming and getting yourself punished runs counter to that. So, are you really passionate about League if you're willing to flame others?

I've had people tell me to stop raging when I ask a question.

I've had people tell me I'm being toxic when I ask why our ADC is not with the other 4 team members.

This game more than Facebook just proves to me that most humans are just offended by everything.

I totally agree with you, soloq is full of trolls, toxic inters and smurfs that come to just ruin your games by nonchalantly feeding and answer to your question about why such behaviour by a "xd" or "check my main account it's plat4". I'm often reported for trying to talk some sense to people or just adressing the way they approach the game, i feel like everyone is too sensitive and try to censor you by calling you a flamer if you dare speak a word about what's wrong. The "flame" word is overly used right and left to often rally the enemy team into their cause (which is banning you with massive reports because you spoke), and since the ennemy team is handed so nicely a freelo victory by the given troll/inter, they often cooperate with him and actually report you even tho you didn't speak in allchat. It's just a toxic community.

Maybe there's not much out side this video game for some people, maybe they have anger management issue, maybe they just troll for fun, or maybe they have been so entitles that the slighted disagreement tilts them.

The mentality of game rage is very similar to road rage I think. Veil of anonymity is an interesting psychology topic I'm sure, maybe someone studied this can contribute some useful information.

You have to also see that atleast the way ranked works in league is no different from casino games, you win, a little reward, you lose they take that away. However any psychology student will tell you that our brain perceives gain and loss on a 1:2 ratio. Losing the same LP feels twice as heavy than the same gain. So the wheel churns and you become a gambler. Have you seen a gambler rage? Very similar. This hypothesis does not apply to normal though, maybe explains why normal games are typically less drama.

im not getting angry when they talk smack. i get angry when they think they know everything in the universe, but actually what they say doesnt even make sense and they counter their own arguments.

stuff like "yo im yi i suck in lategame, im op in early" which alone is just a wrong statement but then what do they do? they do NOTHING in the early where they are supposed to be op, they end up feeding and then do nothing in late either. thats the stuff that actually triggers me. people who are so stupid, they basically insult themselfes, dont get it and then try to blame literally anything and everyone else for it.

I promise you. I don't get angry. It's exhausting to deal with people who can't control their temper for more than 10 seconds.

And I don't play videogames to get exhausted, I play videogames to have fun.
