LP Loss Mitigation

I think something that sounds very fair and could gain a lot of traction is a way to help players deal with their frustration of losing LP when they really shouldn't be.

When a player goes AFK from very early in the game it almost always spells a win for the opposing team. One way Riot can help mitigate frustration is to implement a system where depending on the infraction committed by the player; Players gain back all OR some of the LP lost AFTER the player has been penalized. This can also affect games where players are intentionally feeding.

This does two things: One, let's the player base know that Riot has there backs and they understand that while they can stop and punish every single player they can at least make those frustrating and trying times a little easier. Two, it creates a system that is balanced. Riot isnt just handing out LP and is a system that can be abused. You can't just DDOS someone and have get some LP back when the game looked grim. Someone HAS TO BE PENALIZED. This means Riot may/will look into it, they need to issue an in-game reform card (whatever it's called) and receive either a leaver buster suspension or permanent ban. If a player leaves the game they need to be kicked from the game for 70% of the total game time (I'm just throwing out a number).

If there is something that I am overlooking that would make such a system impossible please shed some light Rioters. I think this is something that RIot can experiment with that will improve morale in some situations and isn't going to be some crazy game changing thing. It's a simple QoL change.

How do you reconcile LP mitigation minutes, hours, or even days after the game is finished when the report is reviewed? What happens to players who get into a promo series in the meantime, or climb/fall in rank during that time (making the LP they deserve from the game different)?

Further, this would cause there to be a known and relatively frequent instance where 5 players gain LP from a game and at least 4 players do not lose any - This is antithetical to the way a system of LP works, and would result in players who play a moderate amount of games slowly climbing even when they don’t deserve to.

Look, I get it, you think you deserve to be ranked higher than you are. But that doesn’t mean it’s true, nor does it mean you have some “right” to keep climbing when you aren’t improving in skill. You are the only constant in your games, and if you are consistently displaying better skill than those you’re being matched with, you will climb.

Again with this. 4 threads like this over the last week.

Look, when you fuck with LP aside from winning or losing games, you poison individual ranks and the ladders as a whole. If a team wins LP, the other team has to lose LP. It's not fair to the winning teams that their opponents have LP loss mitigated because someone went AFK. The only way to make it "fair" is to have no LP wins or gains from the game, and that ain't gonna happen.
