5,781 honor points and a yellow ribbon stripped away from the new "Honor Update," Is that honorable?

Honor FAQ

So my 5,781 honor points were for nothing.

According to this Riot article https://support.riotgames.com/hc/en-us/articles/115008474148

Riot states at the very bottom in hopes that no one will read down that far.

___ "What happens to my old honor ribbons?" "They're going away . . . " "What about my old Honor points? "Gone too."___

This new system of Riot's is NOT an honor system at all. It is based on game play NOT HONOR. Look at the categories. They are not based on honor. Does Riot even know what honor is?

Riot is stripping me of my 5,781 honor points and my yellow ribbon, and I did nothing wrong to deserve having my honor points and my ribbon stripped from me. Then what's the point of even trying to be honorable anymore?

Riot just got rid of anyone who had any honor in the League of Legends game. I am human, and I feel wronged by Riot, therefore, I will not even give a care anymore about being honorable at all.

Why should I even try anymore? Riot doesn't even know what honor is. The Honor system is dead now. The most toxic community just got even more toxic. You thought you had toxic gamers before? You are losing good people each and every day to toxic gamers and you just created many more with this update.

Higher honor gamers model good behavior and soften the blow of the toxic gamers. This equates to more gamers staying playing LOL which ultimately equates to more revenue in Riot's pocket. Without higher honor people softening the blow of the toxic gamers, Riot loses money.

I wonder if Riot even has a concept of just how much monetary revenue they lose due to toxic gamers each year. I wonder if Riot even cares just how much money they lose due to toxic gamers each year.

I wonder if Riot even has a concept as to how much money they have gained from having the higher honor people in game taking the edge off the toxic gamers. Higher honor gamers look out for the victims of abuse. We guide the victims and try our best to protect them from the toxic gamers. We help the victims of toxic gamers, and Riot is making piles of money off of our good works. What will happen when you don't have us, the higher honor gamers, to take the edge off? How much will Riot lose because we are not there? How many new gamers will choose to leave because we are not there? Why are you missing out on the female demographic? There's a huge population of gamers that you are chasing away. Women do NOT like conflict. We, the higher honor gamers, help bring them into the game and keep them gaming. Toxic gamers chase them away.

You're under some impression that we didn't impact the toxic gamers, but we sure as heck impacted the people that were on the fence. We brought in and kept more that you will ever understand. We gave them hope.

I know, sportsmanship is a foreign concept on LOL, but it does actually exist. Oh, I forgot, it used to exist, but Riot just killed off any hope of sportsmanship with this update, and now it will be extinct in LOL.

Life isn't always so nice in the real world, and people try to escape their lives in the fantasy world of gaming, so I tried to make life a bit better in the fantasy world of gaming, but why should I even bother anymore? I believe that one random act of kindness can change a person's day or a person’s life, but I don't feel like being kind anymore after this slap in the face from Riot. I won't be turning the other cheek anymore.

There is NO Honor in this new so-called honor system.

The Honor System Is Dead.

Wow...this post is sad in more than one way. Those last two paragraphs though...utter cringe.

You should still "bother" to be honorable because it's the right thing to do - you shouldn't need a reason to be an honorable person. A truly honorable player shouldn't need a fancy yellow ribbon on their border in order to display how "honorable" they are. A truly honorable player demonstrates honor by being humble in victory and sportsmanlike in defeat. A truly honorable player shouldn't flaunt their honor points and their ribbons in front of others. By doing that, you're essentially saying "Look at my fancy ribbon. I'm so much better than you because of this". That isn't honor, it's arrogance.

I believe that one random act of kindness can change a person's day or a person's life, but I don't feel like being kind anymore after this slap in the face from Riot. I won't be turning the other cheek anymore.

This is one of the most petty comments I've read on these boards over the course of my time here. You're essentially saying "Because I can't show off how 'honorable' I am to others, there's no incentive for me to pretend to be nice anymore". This is one of the reasons Riot is making the new border ribbons and in-game honor emotes temporary. It's so that you have to continuously be honorable so that you can continue to earn them. But hey, to each their own. Please go right ahead and start being toxic so that you can be banned and removed from the community. That's the best "act of kindness" you can give to others from now on.

The Honor System Is Dead.

The current Honor System is dead. This new system is going to revitalize honor and give people incentives to improve their behavior for the long-term. It also gives players a simple method to discern others' level of sportsmanship instead of having people try to figure it out through an arbitrary, dated system of honor points.

So my 5,781 honor points were for nothing.

Pretty much.

The problem is you were somehow under the impression that they meant something to begin with.

"someone has a different opinion better check their honor points because that validates how right you are"

You are free to cease using the service provided to you by Riot Games at any time if you become unhappy with such. Riot is under no obligation to change or keep the same any aspect of the service they provide to you.

They furthermore are not responsible for your unhappiness for having vested so much in pixels on a computer screen that you should have known may change/disappear at any time.

They changed the system because it ultimately didn't impact the amount of toxic players in the community... Also, your forgetting the fact that chests are no longer going to be awarded based on rating at the end of matches... They're getting awarded for commends... So yes, the honor system is still there, and they're working towards ACTUALLY rewarding people with something they could care about

Riot has proven us we should not expect them to follow positive attitude or have any honor. They have proven that numerous times. They have broken their word more often they have kept it.

I am happy for the changes to come even if it means losing some honor points. On the other hand i understand OPs frustration about it, i do not want to know what would happen if they remove mastery points / levels out of a sudden.

If you're willing to give up your ethics that easily then you weren't a very honorable person in the first place.

I'm excited for the new changes. Let's face it, only a tiny portion of the player base ever used the honor system so it was basically worthless. With this new honor system people can't really ignore it which will in turn make people think a little bit more before acting toxic. It's very easy to say or do something in a moment of rage that is less than honorable but if you are more mindful of the consequences then you're less likely to lose control. That's what this system does, it makes people more mindful of their actions.

The way OP talks is cringworthy. Who would have thought that a number earned in a video game would mean absolutely nothing in the real world.

LOL @ U for believing in their old honor system.

I wish I could help. I did the up arrow clicky thing.

The current honor system is kind of pointless. So few people actively honor others who deserve it that you basically have to beg for honors to get a ribbon. I'm not sure if that's what you did, but the only time I ever see anyone give any honors is when my team totally stomps the enemy and teamworks are awarded or when there is a 50 minute long game and everyone is respectable with honorable opponents being given out.

Just to point out how stupid the current system is, Tyler1 who is hailed as the most toxic pos in league had a ribbon for teamwork on one of his many banned accounts.

imo riot is trying way to hard to change the game and by season 9 its gonna be completely different from the league we know
