Account permanently suspended - the use of malicious 3rd party programs or modifications

Dear RIOT,

I was shocked this morning after i got a email from you. " Your account was banned due to the use of malicious 3rd party programs or modifications to your League of Legends client. "

I have no idea what is going on. I had started playing LoL since Season 2 and put a lot of effort on this game, but what i got is a ban as a result. I never ever try to use script / elo boost / hack / 3rd party programs to enhance or modify my game play. Can you please explain and check it again coz I though it was a mistake nor something misunderstood. Although I had submitted a ticket to player support but it still has no answer yet.

There are three points I wanna mention about.

  2. How to differentiate / judge player

  3. Decision of punishment

Since the new report system released, everyone could report anything as players wanted even they are just tricking with others. So what is the point of making a report system which can reported by everyone without clue ?

  1. How to differentiate / judge player

Just wondering how do you differentiate or judge a player who is playing normally or using cheats ? Its unfair if only judge by the player status history.

  1. Decision of punishment

What is the reason to punish ( Ban / suspension ) a player without any specify clue or reason ? I mean the exactly reason. And how do you make the decision without any verify ?

I apologize for my English if it makes you confused. But I believe that all the questions above are the questions most players want to ask.

Oftentimes when a player is banned for illegal program use, it's because their account was compromised.

Getting your account compromised is often due to one or more of a few things;

  • Logging into a public or friend's computer that has a keylogger
  • Sharing part or all of your login information for an illegal service like boosting
  • Visiting shady websites that phish your information one way or another
  • Using a weak password or no intrusion prevention/antivirus software
  • Sharing your information with a friend who did the above

I'd suggest checking out the Protecting Your Account article here for info on preventing this from happening, and the Recovering Your Account article if it does happen.

That being said;

  1. Report system - You aren't punished just because players reported you. Reports flag your match to be checked, and when your account is reviewed the system will look for the offending behavior. The system is designed around filtering out false reports, and it will lower the report weight of players that continue to make them.

  2. Detecting abuse - They have their automated system for flagging accounts, but for exploits/3rd party programs I believe they always manually review before pushing it to the ban wave. They will look for patterns of behavior that could only be done by an automated program or are indicative of one, but Riot won't ever tell you exactly how their process works which brings us to #3.

  3. Reason for punishment - They will give you a vague response like "We detected illegal 3rd party app use" and never give you details on what they found or how they found it because that information can be used by cheaters to avoid detection in the future, enabling the problem. While you may have good intent in asking for that information, Riot cannot risk that, but you can request they review your case again through a Support Ticket.

Running a gaming system that is easily compromised by hackers is very poor morality. Windows 10 was free for a year and MacOS X is free to use.

Someone could take over your computer using old software and use it as a hub to distribute child videos.

You should thank Riot for giving you a kick in the butt to spend a weekend updating your computer. It could have been them letter boys breaking your door down with a warrant.

my 2 accounts get banned same a day with same stupid reason what i never used 3rd program. I have no fuking idea what their system doing, anyone get reported from someone get banned? FUK U RIOT
