Question for Riot: Is playing a champion who is not in their "designated role" reportable/bannable?

So today I felt like trying something a little bit different, I like taking ADCs mid to shut down mages early and get the first tower gold boost. Every game whoever, despite that I kept up in gold accumulation (in once instance actually being the only one to capture towers), I keep getting flamed and probably reported.

I mute the people and report them at the end of the game, but with me most likely getting reported as well just due to being off meta, I'm worried about potentially losing access to my account.

Can I be banned just for playing a role in a different lane?

I don't want personal experiences. I want a Riot personal to tell me.

There are other roles a Marksman champion can play aside from bot lane ADC. Quinn top and Graves jungle are perfect examples since these two champions actually aren't in the bot lane ADC meta. I've seen Ezreal mid several times, and now Lucian mid is a thing.

The meta will always change and fluctuate over time, and during the next pre-season we are going to see a YUGE meta shift with the removal of the current runes and masteries and replacement with a new system.

tl;dr you are not at fault for playing Lucian mid, your team was at fault for griefing, flaming, and report calling. As long as you just muted them and didn't say anything toxic in chat then you will be fine.

I remember when the meta was ADC mid and there was no dedicated jungler.

The meta exists as a framework for having a good chance at winning, but it can be bent and broken. Just look at the "No Ranged" mission they had. It required non-meta picks, but plenty of groups were still able to pull it off.

Riot has already clearly stated that off meta is not punishable. If it was Lucian Mid probably wouldn't exist.

there's a difference between playing off meta (veigar top, adcs mid, etc) and being a troll (AP zed, AP riven, zero damage tryndamere, etc)

playing an adc mid is not being a troll.
