To those who speak about toxicity

MAS13··2 votes·859 views

I am new to this game, I can be right or wrong. But I have realized that part of the game is meant to be for toxic and bad manner players, speaking of champion (dancing, laughing, mastery emotes)... Riot report system was made for the good appearance of the company, but actually they doesn't care that much

In game emotes are all in good fun. If you get tilted by them, that's kind of on you.

Toxicity is harping on every little mistake your teammates make, spending entire games arguing about bullshit (often simply for the sake of arguing, not for actually reaching a resolution on something), and generally insulting people. Flashing your mastery emote isn't toxic.

I’ll partislly agree to good fun. Spamming emotes can be annoying asf.

True, also to ban offenders

actually they doesn't care that much

False, because they ban offenders.

You can mute emotes if they trigger you, but they were implemented for fun. I highly doubt Riot implemented emotes thinking "haha people will ragequit due to this".

they just ban people for being human and having an emotional response to being harassed in their game.

I keep hearing this excuse and I keep wondering where said people live where it is reasonable to call strangers fuckwits, idiots, etc for messing up.

Paíntchip2 votes

Nice assumption dude (there is a saying about assuming and and such). Read harder bro. I’m talking about the guy who finally gets tired of being ragged on and snaps back. The guy who is threatened and snaps back. Eitherway perma bans should only be used for cheaters and people who are a legit threat. This company uses bans in a way to create more toxicity in their game by giving a follow up punch to someone who had an emotional response.

No. If someone has shown that they consistently make the game unenjoyable for other players through their behavior alone Riot has a strong incentive to have that player banned for the sake of the community.

See, if you got banned after a single instance of toxicity, I would agree with this, but you have to be reported in nearly 50% of your games to actually get a warning, then flame even more, to get a chat restrict, then more to get a ban, then even more to a perma.

He didn’t say attacking people for mistakes. He was saying having emotional response to being called a “fuckwit” and “idiot” for messing up. That is really what happens in most games, it is very rare to be in a match where someone isn’t getting abused. Try actually reading what is said man.

Except that isn't what happens in this game for the people who get banned for being toxic. What happens if that they see someone fucking up, and blow up on them. They could just be having a bad game, but nope, they are doing this on purpose, time to be toxic because that will do something right?

Actually it does. This account is perma banned because I lost my cool and was quiting smoking and just didn’t/couldn’t step away, so my temper got the better of me. I never once trolled, never threw, never inted, nor did I ever want to ff for any of the dumb reasons (1st blood for example). The only time I would say anything about someones playing was after they would flame me for whatever reason. I main jungle, so you can imagine what and how I was flamed for. Every chat ban I recieved was do to going off on a flamer, afker, inter or troll. I never once said anything racist, homophobic, sexist, threatening, nor encourage self harm, such as “kys”.

This is not a crying about being banned or any of that shit, so you guys can save the usual kneejerk responses. I’m only using it as an example that, yes you can be banned for not being an asshole, but for simply getting very frustrated and not stepping away.

Extreamly addictive personality. And I really didn’t understand that you could get perma banned for words. Eitherway, Riot cured me of my addiction to loot boxes, I loved those things. I bought enough to get all gemstone skins, 35 gemstones at the time. Now I don’t spend a penny on the game.

I am new to this game, I can be right or wrong.

I love that your "I can be right or wrong" really just meant "Agree with me or you are wrong"

perma banned for anything but cheating and making threats against the welfare of other players. And those Riot doesn’t do shit about,

Personal threats and use of unauthorized third party programs (cheating) are both punishable by permabans and people are regularly hit with these bans.

emotional response to being harassed in their game.

Yeah, but when the response is to harass people back, both people get banned. Riot doesn't want you to fight fire with fire, if someone harasses you Riot wants you to mute them and report them after the game. This will ensure only the person who starts the harassment is punished.

I mean they did make Zoe to satisfy the %%%%philes that play. So yes Riot is toxic.

Yeah, because Zoe is the only child in league...Annie

Welp, we better stop having kids in all shows and games then. Obviously they were designed only to be targeted by sexual predators and not for any story elements or anything.

SavageConcordia2 votes

No both don’t get banned. I had someone threaten to kill me, that account is not banned. It actually got no punishment.

O good, your anecdotal claim clearly proves that the hundreds of board posts of people pissed because they got banned for saying things like "kys" and various hate speech are all just people lying because they want to be seen as ass holes!

but after two. Well, you might want to call the police and have them check out whoever designed her.

Zoe's visuals were done by Jessica Oyhenart and Elena Bespalova. Annie was done by Ezreal, Guinsoo and Zileas. They were designed by entirely different groups of people 6 years apart. Who are we investigating exactly?

the only thing that confuses me since season 2... how is this game rated 12+ WHEN NIDALEE IS POLE DANCING!?

FOR JUSTICE1 votes

Rated 12+ with evelynn even existing

Paíntchip3 votes

Actually this game needs to be 21+ only. It does have gambling after all (loot boxes). It is disgusting that Riot gets away with praying on children. There are reasons you have to be over 21 to get into a casino.

You can actually enter some casinos under 21. 21 is for alcohol and table top games. You can play slots younger than that and bet on dog/horse races even younger than that.

Titles rated T (Teen) have content that may be suitable for persons ages 13 and older. Titles in this category may contain violence, suggestive themes, crude humor, minimal blood, simulated gambling and/or infrequent use of strong language.

Modi1 votes

Some places may require you to be 21. Minnesota is not one of those places.

Paintchip1 votes

One place? How many gambling establishments minors in?

Modi2 votes

Since the term "minor" depends on the context, your definition of a minor may disagree with Minnesota state law. In Minnesota, the minimum legal gambling age is 18. Anyone younger than 18 years old is considered a "minor" in he context of gambling.

Nowhere did I say that minors are allowed into a casino (unless escorted by a parent of guardian), nor did I say that they are allowed to gamble.

Paintchip1 votes

So.... What you are saying was the guy was right, you where just trying to pick a fight. His point was Riot targeting kids with gambling, which usually has a minimum age to participate, 21 for most places, 18 for others. Though I think you would have a hard time getting into a gambling facility under 18.

Modi1 votes

My point was to state a fact. No ulterior motive. Not to "pick a fight".

I have made no comment regarding the actions or motives of Riot.

His statement that you must be 21 to enter, and gamble in, a casino was stated as fact, but was not quite correct. My comment was only to correct this oversight.

Paintchip1 votes

If he lives in an area where only those that are 21+, then he states fact as far as he knows. You missed the point and were just being argumentative. The point was no minors, either that is 18 or 21+ depends. But I doubt you could find 12 year olds at the slots, which is what this game does with loot boxes.

Chermorg3 votes

Probably because loot boxes are a very small part of it and given for free, unless someone chooses to spend real money on extra?

Paintchip1 votes

A very small part? But they put themed loot boxes out all the time (current event as example).

Yes, and drug dealers will give free examples to get them hooked. Doesn’t change what it is. And you proved his point about stating to buy “extras”, that is the point, get you hooked and then tou keep buying.

Realistically this game should be 18+, or accounts that aren’t verified to be used by people over 18 should be locked from buting loot boxes.

Modi1 votes

If loot boxes helped you succeed in the game by doling out power-ups, then I might be inclined to agree with this assessment. Since the lot is purely cosmetic, I don't see it as a problem.

You also do not seem to be giving credit where credit is due: where are the parents? Why aren't they teaching their children to be responsible?

It's a two-way street. Riot may need to be more responsible, but the parents are just as guilty for not teaching their children proper responsibility, then.

Paintchip1 votes

Um no. Power ups or cosmetics it is still gambling, period. Look up gambling man. League of Legends needs to be +18 or +21 where applicable.

This is an issue in several games, not just league. It is getting bad enough that a senetor out of Hawaii actually wants to make what I’m saying law.

Yeah, ok. You actually expect modern parents to regulate or say no to kids these days? They won’t even teach them manners.

Modi1 votes

Since the lot is purely cosmetic, I don't see it as a problem.

Where did I say it was not gambling?

Yeah, ok. You actually expect modern parents to regulate or say no to kids these days? They won’t even teach them manners.

So, you are saying parents get a pass? Riot (and any other company, for that matter) has to bow because they are incompetent? I say that is bullshit. Everyone should be held accountable, or no one. None of this selective accountability bullshit.

Paintchip1 votes

Ok you can win the internet today. I’m bored with topic now.

P.S. Food for thought. The game is is rated for teens 12+, not the parents fault they are mislead by a sloppy rating system that allows companies like Riot to prey on children with gambling in their games.

Strange then that such toxicity is against Riot's official standards of conduct.

Riot report system was made for the good appearance of the company, but actually they doesn't care that much

And yet there are new threads here every day from players complaining about being banned or chat restricted for even modest toxic behavior. I conclude that you are in error.
