Ban system needs to be improved.

Hello there, first of all i have to say i'm not here conplaining for a ban since i only own one account (which is this) and have never been banned nor chat restricted. But while i am pretty happy Riot started to be more severe about hate speech and toxic people in general i have to say that its system isn't 100% fair like Riot and people in this board wanna make it look like.

I usually lurk this section and see a lot of people cry about their bans. Most of the times people have been banned because they said "kys" to another player. Don't get me wrong, ban was deserved. Even though the ban was deserved, there are a quite some players (yes, i'have encountered and reported them, but somehow they are still playing on the same accounts) who type "kill yourself" or "end your life" and are still not given the same treatment of players who type "kys" which means the exact same thing.

Now, this isn't a post in defense of hate speech and players who have made use of it, i would never say that. But in the end this system isn't fair at all. Some players have been banned for saying something while others haven't for saying the same thing just because they used another way to say it. That seems hate speech too to me.

Cuz riot implemented automated bans for certain phrases because they are lazy as shit and would rather not actually review cases, their ban system completely disregards context that's what I think it wrong with it, but I'll probably get flamed on here by a bunch of white knight sheep so what do I know

If I rob a liquor store and get away with it, does that mean the law of my country is meaningless?

People get away with stuff, for one reason or another. The system struggles to keep up in all cases. Doesn't mean the folks that DO get caught were treated unfairly.

Riot´s system is really difficult. Here it is:

their chat monitoring is garbage don't even get me started on leaver buster. i have a friend who would constantly leave games cause he just tilts off the planet. he would RQ games for next to no reason or make any excuse possible like " my dog needs out " and then he would leave at like the 5 minute mark , 30 minutes in we wouldnt see him lmao. never got banned once. i lost power during a blizzard one , 14 day bann for leaving.

Then i guess i'll have to open a ticket everytime someone says kill yourself or anything similar. Good to know the system can detect "kys" but can't detect "kill yourself" which is what it means ^^ good to know that those tickets will just invite me to use the report system they offer in game.

How are you even able to monitor those bans and get a large enough sample to come to this conclusion?

I think you are just doing it based on a few board posts and a few toxic players that got your attention ingame this is not even remotely enough.

So here are a few things you need to understand first:

  1. Everyone is at different levels within the behavior system. Someone who has had a 14 day ban will not be treated the same as someone who has a clean account.
  • People on 14-day ban can call someone trash and get permabanned in 1 game after their 14-day ban punishment. Whereas people with a clean account an probably say the same in 10 consecutive games and "nothing" will happen.

  1. Some people get reported, some don't. No reports, no system review, no potential for punishment.

  2. Even with hate speech there is a threshold to it. If I had a clean account and said it once only, chances are I won't get punished for it, but if I have had any behavioral hsitory, the chances of it triggering a punishment is much higher.

  3. Not everyone recieved punishment notification. So sometimes a dude can get punished a few games down the road, and you'll never know about it.

  4. There was this terminology about how people has gone through some extreme negative stuff, from that point on, whenever negative stuff happens (regardless of how minor it is), that person only recalls the extreme negative stuff, thus thinking it happens all the time. Don't remember what that is called, someone will fill me in on it. It is possible you maybe be going through the same thing.

Funny enough, I've known someone to be chat banned for having a completely polite chat with team and enemy except for saying "my sugar daddy".
