I think I'm done with this game. {Read this, seriously}

Yes, I got banned. The first two games I understand, but the last one was uncalled for. The chat logs involved little to no toxicity, and I was being bashed because I suck at this game. sorry!

Anyways, the reason why I think I'm done with this game is that RIOT is poor at dealing with toxicity. You're willing to ban someone who has given years of his time and money into this game for what? a "happy" community? It doesn't matter what you do. League of Legends is a competitive, onine game and there is no stopping someone from saying how bad his or her teammates are. I know in California you guys are a bunch of snowflakes, but are you really going to ban a player simply off of chat logs? for being a bad player? Is that how you deal with things? I find it discrediting as a finance major to ban a primary source for capital gain.

What I would like to point out is how the penalty system has been getting more sensitive. a simple ban by one or two players can give someone a chat restriction. any games after that, even if they are a month or so away, you get a ban. I remember when I was on a chat restriction for over two-hundred games! That was roughly about 3 or 4 years ago. That punishment I was given may have been a weak penalty to you, but my attitude improved after those games. Why? I saw improvement simply because I used my five available chats for notifications, such as wards, what to do, who to protect, what objectives are next, who to target, etc.. After I was off of chat restriction, I acted like I still had it after a month or two.

Moreover, That leads me to my only request. What I've noticed about league is that it seems RIOT is looking for people to ban. Players are looking for players to ban. Players who aren't at a high rank, who annoy them, who feed, etc. People would report people for stealing a scuttler! Yes, I've seen that happen plenty of times. We've also all been the player to feed a lane because of lack of communication with the jungler. We've all blamed our support or ADC for being too passive or aggressive. Shit happens! Back to my point: I think that if I choose to mute someone in game, they shouldn't be allowed to read anything I send. If I were to push a little further, I'd want to have the option to take off chat completely. The Majority of bans are from in game conversations. If you gave people the option to turn of their chat logs or to double-end mute, there would be less reports, less traffic, less toxicity, and would start to remove the stigma that LoL is the most toxic community.

I don't believe anyone should be punished for playing a game meant for competition. I don't think anyone is ever truly toxic on purpose either. it's usually provoked by bad gameplay. One comment can change the attitude of the whole game. I would know, I tend to be on both ends of it. Nobody tries to carry toxicity over to another game. People can be tilted, People can be upset to the prior game, but I'd like to see a poll of people who purposely feed at minute one of a new game.

Finally, I just want to say that League of Legends has been my game since preseason of season 4. I have spent over 90 days total playing this game (over 5 years), I have invested more than a thousand into this game, and I wish I didn't see that ending soon. I love this game, I love the nature of the competition, I don't care if someone is toxic as much because I have a life. This game isn't my life, it's a pastime, and a new game is a new mindset. Preventing toxicity isn't easy, but I think that a player should decide whether they want to communicate with a player or not. All anyone really needs in a league game is pings, and chat is merely a bonus. Let the players who want to keep chat keep it, but for players such as myself, give me the option to turn my side of chat completely.

Thank you.

P.S. I'd like to see an argument saying that it's wrong for me to turn off MY CHAT and MY ABILITY TO COMMUNICATE with players when I could just use pings.

No matter how well one does their job, if they start calling people out, be rude and tell people to "fuck off" then they're getting fired.

Competitiveness is no excuse for being rude or using offensive language. Not happy with how Riot handels toxicity then by all means, leave.

I don't get it. You already have this power if you bothered to look for it.

You can drag the chat off the screen almost entirely. You can find a third-party program to disable your enter key. You can mute everyone in the game every game.

What is stopping you from doing these things?

Riot has given you all the tools you need to succeed. It's up to you to not abuse them or they will be taken away. In some cases, a chat restriction, in this case, a ban. They're not going to baby you. They're treating you as an adult, and giving you free reign to choose your own fate. If you're a member of the 0.00something percent that can't control themselves and are banned, then maybe you're not the type of person who should be playing this game after all. League can be tilting, frustrating, upsetting, and many other things. There will always be people who handle stress better or poorer than others. If you choose to face frustration and anger by taking it out on your fellow players, then you probably need to find a new game.

It's not Riot's responsibility to give you limits to what you can or can't do. If you know you have a propensity to flame others, then never open that chat bar. Simple as that. Riot grants YOU individual freedom over your fate, and only YOU can screw it up and get banned. It is no one else's fault nor responsibility but your own. Sure, we've all flamed someone else, or gotten upset when something didn't work out. But the vast, overwhelming majority of players go unbanned for their entire League careers. You say that you wish a player would be able to decide whether they want to communicate with another player or not. By muting the other player, then simply not pressing the enter button, you completely shut off all communication. You'd think I wouldn't have to explain this, but it seems some people here are aware that YOU are the only real cause of your own punishment in League. Blaming the chat bar only enables you to use it as a scapegoat, while denying actual responsibility.
