As a member of the Navy I can tell you 100% that you see the top a ship first as it comes over the horizon. What they say about just increasing your zoom and the ship will come back into focus is completely untrue. We actually were able to calculate the distance a ship was from our ship based on how far our distance to the horizon was and how much of the ship was showing over the horizon. I've observed thousands of ships do this.
Furthermore, any pilot or sailor will tell you that if you do a long voyage you don't go due west or due east, you actually curve up north (assuming you are in the Northern Hemisphere.) The reason for this is due to the curvature of the earth its actually a shorter distance to make an arc than it is to go due west/east. For example, when we traveled from San Diego to Japan our arc took us all the way up to the same latitude as Canada. If the earth was flat then it wouldn't be economical to do this.
Finally, there are people who have crossed the Antarctic and there are people who have crossed the North Pole, proving that there is no edge to the earth.

It's 1 thing to have a belief in something we don't yet know or not sure of as well as taking a stance in grey discussions, it's another thing however to outright deny simple facts that could be explained and proved in far more ways than you could count, mathematically or practically.
I mean hell, you could pay NASA and go to space to see for yourself now. Or you could you know, just go to the beach, climb a mountain or hop on a damn plane and see just how "flat" Earth is? By that I mean observing the horizon, and that no matter how good of a telescope you can get, you will never see the other side of the Earth without light manipulation or whatever, because it's physically out of your direct vision due to Earth's curvature.
The Earth is not flat, it's simple as that. Just as water will always be wet, the Earth will always be round, unless some meteor came along and punch a hole through it or something but even then given time it will still collapse back into a somewhat spherical shape, because that's how gravity works.
