Seeing your ping with the servers before you hit play?

As the tittle states, sitting on the main screen where you can pick and set up matches would it be possible to have a ping reader like in match. ( I dont know much about networking and not making any sense about this) If this was possible to implement would it help cause number of laggy players DC'ing from matches but my other question about it is that ive had 70-90 ping loading in to game but once in the match it would go way up.. So I have two questions is 1. a ping reader on the main screen 2. is the upped ping in matches due to people in my match im having issues with?
