Why does LOL penalize players for things that are LOL's fault?

I was recently placed in a lower queue because I was supposedly AFK. The only thing is it was LOL's lag that caused me to not be able to even move my champion. And then after I finally get in I am told by LOL that I am being placed in a lower queue. How fair is that?

Doubt it's LoL's servers. They've been (overall) pretty good for a while, with only minor hiccups. A far cry better than S3 when the servers would implode every time there was a new patch. Also, you don't get placed in LPQ unless you've got a history of AFK.

I wouldn't be surprised if you are heavily embellishing the account, while also leaving information outta the picture. That, or naive about your own side of the connectivity issues.

first of all, its your opinion that it was leagues fault. Which may or may not have been the case. Second, you don't get punished for leaving once and part of the reason is because there are things out of your control.

Punishments in league are almost never for any single incident. So even if we assume that this lag was leagues fault, the punishment was for a series of incidents which expects random things out of your control to happen. So at first glance it may be unfair but really if you hadn't left previous games then you never would have been punished.

You don't get a penalty after one game of AFKing. Maybe the last game you AFKed was the game's fault, but you must have been AFK more often than there are server issues to get penalized.
