- How do you think the future of League of Legends will progress, especially in regards to the professional scene?
This is an interesting question and one that I've thought about for a long time and the short answer is - I don't really know. Going back to before there was LCS I would have never thought something like the LCS would have existed, but then it happened. When I was in the LCS I was in shock and awe and thought it couldn't get any better, but it has. And since I started working at riot I thought we were at the peak, but we weren't. So I guess what I'm trying to say is if we reverse psychology this and say League and the professional scene will not progress, it's going to blow up even more. xD
- What advice would you give to someone who is considering following in your footsteps if you retired for medical/personal reasons?
This is kind of a difficult question since I honestly feel quite lucky and a lot of things fell into place at the right time. If someone were to retire for medical reasons e.g. wrist injury, I would say that observing is not the right path because while the LCS players play 2 matches a week, we observe 10. But my general advice would be to get really good at the game. I'm not talking about just mechanics, I mean really try and understand the game at a deep competitive level. And practice on your own free time! Everyone has access to the spectator client!
- What sort of challenges have you faced and how did you overcome them?
This is something I'm glad you asked because I was debating on whether or not I wanted to include something about this in my intro. WARNING FEEL TRIP AHEAD WARNING
Back in ~2005 my pops was diagnosed with cancer but they caught it relatively early and with chemo/radiation they were able to treat it and it went into remission and everything was gravy. Fast forward to 2009 and some of the symptoms started coming back. We went back to his doctors and they assumed his cancer had come out of remission and they would resume the same treatment that hard worked the first time. Well, it didn't work and things started getting worse. Turns out he had a different, rare, and way more aggressive form of Lymphoma, but we didn't really figure that out until it was almost too late. This is when the doctors told us that he had a chance in the form of a bone marrow transplant. And that if the transplant was successful it would essentially cure his condition. I was incredibly hopeful at this point thinking that this was definitely going to work out. So we got him on the bone marrow transplant list and waited, and waited, and waited, but nothing. Out of every single person in the bone marrow donor registry, and everyone in our family, there was no match, and that was it. He died two weeks after my 21st birthday and I never even got to share a drink with him, legally of course. I had always heard of people using music or books or movies as an escape from reality but I never really understood it until then. This is when I escaped my reality through video games and honestly did nothing but play League everyday. I probably would have never stopped playing league but I was lucky and fortunate enough to have had a strong support system of two of the most amazing brothers, the best mom, and incredible friends. I don't know if I can say I've completely overcome this, because it still affects me to this day, but I'm in a place that's over 9000x better than I was before.
- Which way do you have the toliet paper roll, over or under?
Under is pretty much the only way to go. Over is heresy.
- Will Riot Games ever live up to their name and make a second game?
I'm going to take a wild guess and say EVENTUALLY xD
