What's with people giving up?!

So yesterday my brother and I were playing an ARAM game, I was Malzahar and he was Teemo

We had a Ziggs and a Syndra who were doing well, as well as us doing well. We had a Fizz also who thought he was the bees knees and was being a bit cocky. So we had a heavy AP team. The enemy Gnar built full MR which caused us a bit of problems, and there was a MasterYi who was carrying hard.

The game was really exciting and enjoyable, we did push hard and got onto the final nexus turrets beforeMasterYi decided to get a Quadra with the help of his friendly Ashe , Gnar , Shaco and Janna and aced us. Our Fizz had enough and said 'GG WP N00B team' and went afk. We struggled because they pushed hard and got onto our final turrets and were hitting the Nexus.

When we spawned our Nexus was on half health and still decreasing. Somehow, we managed to kill their squishies (I Nether Grasped Yi) and our Nexus was on about 2 AA's left! Ziggs pushed away Gnar with his satchel and we killed him too! We went on and won the game, with our Nexus on 2 shots remaining..

Moral of the story, play to the end! Really exciting game, everyone honored eachother and had fun. There are some friendly people in the world..

Moral of the story: that fizz is a douche.

I actually just played a ranked game where my friendly Katarina said "GG" as we lost a teamfight while the score was only on a 4 kill deficit, I asked her why it was gg and she didn't respond and decided to start feeding, we were down a mid lane, and the enemy already had a gold advantage,

Our Lee was also kinda derpy like the typical Lee player is.

I'm so confused as why people give up like that, its really depressing

everyone just wants an easy win and they don't like having to try. If they do their best and still lose a fight, they just assume their teammates are at fault and that they won't do better so they give up. Plus, if it's not ranked, most people don't have fun while losing and you shouldn't play if you aren't having fun. I mean, for surrendering anyway.

Sounds to me like it was a long game. My guess is that Fizz queued expecting a quick game, which is not always the case in ARAM (although in his small defense, they usually are quick). 100% not excusable, but that's probably what happened.

Me? I only quit (ff only) when I don't want to play with my allies. If they are a bunch of douchebags, I'd rather lose. I play this game for fun, I'm not too concerned about my rank. If it's only one douchebag, I'll happily mute and play on :)

When I play with my friend, we surrender-block. It's almost never our fault that we're losing, so we're teaching our team a lesson. If they get bitchy, we get to report them. It's a win-win.

Moral of the story: If you dig your own grave, be prepared to lie in it.

Because they don't have the heart that you do, my NA friend.

Because if a team is doing poorly it is very unlikely it will get better as time goes on. The last thing a person wants to do is waste 10+ minutes more on a frustrating loss. People need to realize that in most cases losing isn't fun and people trying to surrender might be avoiding becoming toxic with their team any more than they already have.

I honestly have no idea because even the most hopeless looking games can be won. It was ranked one time and I was adc Thresh. I managed to get myself fed quite nicely. Meanwhile we had two people who duo-queued together and accidentally fed a few kills early on which led to some people on the enemy team snowballing so they decided to just completely give up. Due to the fact we wouldn't surrender with them they decided to feed and managed to wrack up ~40 deaths together. Meanwhile Garen, I, and I forgot who the third person was kept farming and they continued pushing into our base. Well we went mid and completely destroyed the enemy team due to working together and looking out for each other and later on won the game with just us three. All you have to do is keep trying until your nexus or the enemies explodes because anything could happen.
