Any authors/readers out there?

Hello! A few days ago I published my first short story, and I got to thinking... How many other League players have a published work out there? I think it would be very neat to see other authors who play League, and see what their in-game role is compared to their writing genres. So! I will start!

I am a supportive person who you will never find yelling at you for mistakes. I have played League of Legends for many years, and have had a pretty, blue honor ribbon for a very long time. The short story I published is called Notes, and I guess it would be under the mystery genre... not sure though. I enjoy writing stories that are very close to the real life story of something/someone, and Notes is no exception. My favorite champion is Evelynn, which is strange because my favorite role is support. I do tend to like stealth though... and Evelynn can be supportive for teams. The connection to my book and favorite role? Hmm... I think that the main character in my book is very quiet, just like Sona, a wonderful support character! Maybe a little cheesy, but you get the point!

So! Are there any other authors out there? Have you published something? Even if you have not, what do you like to write and what role do you like to play in League? Who/what is your favorite champion? Tell us about your book as well as the relation between it and your favorite role in League of Legends! Be creative, like I (kinda of) was when I picked Sona in relation to my book. xD

Now if you are not a writer, join us anyways! Tell us what genre you like to read, one of your favorite books, and hook it up somehow with your favorite role in League!

I am an avid reader and my girlfirend (who i got into gaming and league) is an author in progress. Any tips for getting a novel published?

Hello, RedHatGamer! I used Kindle Direct Publishing through Amazon. It is a tool that allows you to self-publish your works through Kindle, in the format of e-books. You can also use Amazon to print paperbacks. I would suggest looking up the difference between self-publishing and getting her book published by another company... honestly self-publishing is the way to go. As far as a simple list of tips?

  1. Self publish through Kindle Direct Publishing; I have not had a bad experience with it yet
  2. Look up other people who have self published; there are people who have written large blog posts on 'how to'
  3. Watch videos on the entire publish process before deciding to publish; knowing what is coming helps a lot
  4. Take time to properly format your book if you choose to do an e-book... Kindle has a very specific way they need your book formatted when you turn it in. Watch vids and read on the web to learn more :)

Now... what kind of book is she writing, and who is HER favorite champion? :D

So ive been inactive on the boards for a long time but ill respond now and just guess you will see it. She is a morgana main. AverageIceWitch is her username. She writes fantasy novels. Divergent esque with a tint of magic id say.

Hi! I'm not a huge reader, but I do like short stories and such. I write all the time but haven't published anything. So, while I consider myself an author I'm not actually published lol. I like to write fantasy-esque stuff and I tabletop RP a lot so that inspires me. :) But I'm super interested in new/unknown authors. My favorite champs have to be Varus and TwistedFate partially because they were some of my first and bring nostalgia. I love mid and support roles, but I'm mostly an ARAM fan. Your book looks super interesting! I'll check out the FB page. :)

I can't say I have a favorite book, I love so many. I'm currently reading the Kingkiller series and I really like that series! Not such a fan of the main character, although he does possess some elements of personality similar to Varus and TF xD. Eh, but I love that series mainly for the storyline and side characters.

For the past couple years, I've been working on a novel-length piece that's loosely based on a game I used to frequently play. I've currently got roughly 300 pages typed up on my Word Document, but I handwrite everything before I type it up, so at the moment, I've handwritten close to 500 pages and I still have roughly 1/3 of the story to get through before I can start editing it.

MarhsallLee67... whew, that sounds like work! Who's the main character in the novel? Do they at all relate to your favorite champion? :D

The main character is a somewhat-self-centered writer (at the start at least) who has kind of detached himself from the rest of society and is thrown into all these crazy life-or-death situations and is forced to take control. It's a bit clichéd, but I'm doing my best to add my own spin to it.

Unfortunately, the book is not at all LoL-based, nor are any of the characters related to any LoL champions (though, I could probably make a case that one of the main female characters is a bit like Vi, my favorite champion :) ); a full-length novel set in LoL would be pretty hard to do considering all of the different intertwined lores, not to mention that it would be difficult to come up with an over-arching plot or conflict so that it's not just a random collection of short stories.

You're book doesn't have to have anything to do with LoL and I'm sure there are characters in it that relate somehow to champions! :D Vi has a very fun personality; your main character must be interesting! The goal here is to find small traits from something/someone in your book, and attach them to a champion. You did a good job with Vi :) I hope the book goes well!

Now I'll do one more... There is a guy in my book, the main characters brother, who wears a black tench coat a lot. So naturally I thought of Mr. Lucian ...He kinda has a trench coat... I don't play him though.

Ah, I see.

In that case, another one of the characters has a darker side (literally), so I could attribute him a little bit to Nocturne, the first champion I mained in League.Nocturne I played nothing but Noc until level 26 or so @__@

When I joined League, Noc was the guy being released... I played him in pvp thinking that the only items you could buy were the suggested ones.... -blush- But I like Noc ;)
