How does the block system work?

Today I blocked a persom from my team and 2 games after I got in their TB lobby. I didn't realise it was the same person until I saw they were automatically muted. They were the captain of the lobby as well. What's the point of blocking someone, then?

U only block messages from them. You cant block them from playing with /against u xD
