Server Down for Maintenance

What happens if you're playing a game in League, when the server is taken down for maintenance?

I was just randomly thinking about this today, because last night, when I was trying to log on to League, it had me on Login Queue, and then an error, and when I restarted the client, it said that they were performing some emergency server maintenance. So then I was thinking today, what happens to the people still playing a game when the server is taken down? Does the game come to a draw, do they keep playing, does the side with the most kills so far win by default, or what happens?

Usually if riot is aware of server problems (obviously on their end) they enable "loss forgiven" which basically doesn't count any losses, if the servers are under too much stress I believe the games are just lost to the nether. Could definitely be wrong tho xD

Edit: Yeah, what they said. ^ Lol.

Until someone smarter comes along... I believe when things like that happen, everyone is booted from the game and a loss prevention goes into place. You didn't win the game, you can't complete the game, but it doesn't count as a loss. That's what they try to do, anyhow. I don't think it always works. And as for last night, there was supposedly some hack thing going on in the NA server, so everyone got booted, and then no one could get on. https://support.riotgames.com/hc/en-us/articles/201753014-Loss-Prevented
