How about a bit of a change?

I know for a fact that some people reading this message will think in their heads: "Man, this dude is a real hipster. Why can't he just enjoy what RIOT does now?"

Trust me, as much as I hate the game, I also love it equally. Ever since season 3 when I first joined, this game grew on me. However, there are still some things I wish had remained the same from S3. The list is VERY long, so I would have to tell you - the onlooker - in a private conversation another time. But, I digress.

What I mean by "How about a bit of a change?" is that I propose a client for League of Legends that EXCLUSIVELY contains content from Season 1 or 2.

"But sir! That's utter heresy! How dare you speak ill of the GLORIOUS Season 6!?" I know its heresy. Do I care? Not necessarily.

Now, before you people go off on a tangent in the comment section, saying "wow get over it dude season 1 and 2 sucked lolololololololol," allow me to give a couple of reasons as to WHY I would like this client to be a thing.

To very bluntly sum it up, I'm a fan of old games. Warcraft 3 to the original Command and Conquer; I've enjoyed them all. The main reason behind this? Because to me, they have a very certain... aura surrounding the games. Something like an artist's touch that most modern games don't seem to have. The majority of AAA games that are released year upon year don't seem to have a special... feel to them, as though the creator didn't put enough effort into the game. That could be Nostalgia talking, I don't know.

League of Legends is the same way whenever I watch games from the Beta, or from Season 1 and 2. They have the same distinct feel to them as a game like Diablo would hold. That same feeling was what I felt when i first played League of Legends; it was what drew me in - hook, line and sinker! But ever since S5, when the new SR was released, the game lost that feeling. It lost it's Artist's touch, the thing that made the game... well, a game. And I would very much like to see that come back.

Now, with the reasoning out of the way, here's exactly what I propose:

  • All content released at a certain point during Season 1 (or 2, depending on which one RIOT would prefer to do) to be on a separate client than the PBE or Live client
  • All Skins at that particular patch to be available and purchasable (RIOT would need to be able to make a profit off this, otherwise there's no point)
  • All Runes at that particular patch to be available and purchasable (obvious reasons)
  • All Masteries at that particular patch to be available (nostalgia reasons :P)
  • All champions at that particular patch to be available (Remember: S1 or S2 roster during a certain period) and to have their kits/stats to have been changed accordingly to that patch
  • The original ELO Ranking System (some of the players prefer this, from what I've heard)
  • The map, with the same details as it was back then, to be included (Obvious reasons, otherwise whats the point of a Classic client)
  • All in-game items at that particular patch to be available (i.e Heart of Gold, Eleisa's Miracle, Philosopher's Stone, etc)

This is basically all that I propose for my idea of a "Classic Client." The intention for this idea was to give newer players a chance to see how the game has evolved over time, and for people who loved the game back then more than they do now a second chance to relive some memories. I personally, very strongly, feel this would benefit RIOT in a multitude of ways, ranging from potential profits (skins and champs) to making their fanbase proud to follow such a lovely company.

Anyways, these were just my thoughts. I would probably sell my soul to RIOT spend more money just to show some support for them if they were to create a Classic Client. I doubt this would be made, but fingers are still crossed.

I truly appreciate those who have read all the way down here and I thank you sincerely for your time. Please consider my idea, RIOT. and have a nice day everyone!
