Is it possible to lower your ping?

This has been bothering me for quite some time. Toward the end of season 2 and the beginning of season 3, I had an average of 70ms^. That was perfect. From there to season 4, I has an average of 90ms^ (which was decent). Now I get an average of 120ms^, and it's annoying. My friends that live in the same area as me get around 60ms, someone even claimed they have 20ms.

Is it just my internet that's not good? Can I do anything to fix this?

^Note that the pings I stated for myself is when no one else is using the internet, so it's the best ping I had at that time.

Have you changed machines? A better machine lowers your ping slightly. See what programs are ruining on the background, it may be a few programs are stealing part of the connection from you. Lower the graphics, remember that league graphics was just updated, try playing with teh graphics to see if it improves the connection. Check the general ping of your computer, it might be your wireless adapter is dying and hence is losing packets from time to time.

I know there are a few programs that lower the ping but all of them are from doubtful sources and I can't give you a link without being sure it won't be a virus.

I would love to have consistent 120 ping. I am usually going in to games hoping for 150 or less, but to your question;

What kind of router do you have? Last year I upgraded from a wireless G to a wireless AC and it improved my ping greatly.

Check what people are doing on your net and investigate any spikes that may happen when specific computers connect to the network.

Apart from that it comes down to network infrastructure and strain on said infrastructure. For example, where I live we still have Copper Wire networks so I have a low bandwidth for my household to share between everyone using the net. So I can only play when people are taking it easy on the net and not using bandwidth-intensive applications and sites such as youtube or streaming services.
