Stacking Trinket vs Sightstone

Hello! This is my first time posting to the boards. I apologize if I break any etiquette rules. Anyway, I'm a fairly frequent Lee Sin player. And, of course, any Lee Sin with a basic knowledge of the champion knows the importance of ward hopping. Well, as of patch 5.3, Riot introduced the stacking, reduced CD yellow trinket(I realize this was a while ago). Well, before 5.3, it was mandatory for Lee Sin players to buy a Sightstone. However, now that we have this new trinket, I have no idea which one to buy. The same goes for playing support. My thinking was that one might keep purchasing normal wards until they hit level 9, at which point they would purchase the upgraded trinket. This would, in the end, cost much less than the Sightstone's 800G.

Here are some of the pros/cons of each one that I can think of. 5.3 Stacking Trinket

  • Only 250G
  • Theoretically infinite ward placement (recharging) – Must wait until level 9 – Max. 2 charges, as opposed to the Sightstone's 4 – No red/blue trinkets available Sightstone
  • Gives health, which is better than buying only normal wards in the early game
  • Allows placement of 3 wards in quick succession – User must return to shop once charges have been expended – Uses an additional inventory space Another important thing to note is that the sweeper probably isn't as necessary at lower leagues because they're not as concerned about vision as much as those who are higher on the ladder.

If anyone could leave a reply or vote on the poll, that'd be great. This has stumped me for a while and I'd love to get feedback from more experienced players about how I might proceed. Thanks!

The trinket is nice but you always want to make sure your team has a sweeper and pinks, on Lee I see Sightstone as being great until you get to full build and that gold piles up, then I'd recommend the swap to the yellow stacking trinket and another item to better round out your build.
