Decent Player Trying to Give Back!

I've been playing this game for 3 years now and it's a huge part of my life. I may not be a challenger player but I've watched every professional game ever played over those 3 years and countless hours of streaming. That's going without mentioning the thousands of hours of game time I've been through. I am a platinum ranked player as of Season 4 and to be completely honest I believe that if given the time to play enough ranked games I'd have reached diamond easily(but this isn't about my ranking). I want to create the greatest comprehensive league guide website in existence. I want to give back to the community. If you've looked up a guide in the last few months or wanted to learn an in-depth league tactic you'll realize that almost everything is either outdated and updated with false information or forced/rushed into production. Being a computer Science major who knows a thing or two about coding, I would be more than capable of designing a website that could house this dream. Being an avid league player with years of experience and a vast knowledge of the game I could accomplish it. The only problem is the money. As illustrated in my GoFundMe post I'm the regular broke college kid working over 40 hours a week and going to school full-time. I'd love to be able to sit down and just start this project but that sadly isn't possible because, well, money doesn't appear out of thin air. It isn't that simple. That, however, doesn't mean that people can't help. Thank you for reading this if you actually did and not just flaming the post. If I had a current credit card, I'd give you $5, seriously. What guarantee do I have that you would use it for that........none. My advice is just keep thinking about it positively and start jotting notes, what you want to say about this, that, how the layout looks, make a collage, dream about it. Oh and start a money cup of your own funds that you can just put in there, change, a dollar here and there. Maybe people will donate time or tips, or $$. You might meet some really interesting and influential people along the way. Your plan may change. Good Luck

Very interesting.

I've got a few questions if you'd like to consider any:

My main question would be, how would your site be different to Leaguepedia and/or Skill-Capped.com?

Also 1200 bucks sounds reasonable goal to create a basic League info web page, but have you factored in how much **maintenance **you'd have to do on a site like this? Since League is a game that changes pretty much every two weeks and DRASTICALLY every half-a year-to-a-year things would go out-of-date very fast as is often the case with guide sites.

Would "the greatest comprehensive league guide website in existence" include tactics such as split-pushing to win games, guides for all the spells/masteries/runes, or guides like how to freeze and/or manipulate the minion waves?

Would you write the guides yourself?

Have you written any already?

I like the idea but it sounds like a huge undertaking for one person as well as something that would be too costly to maintain on a free service (this can be worked around by ad revenue etc, but still). It also seems to cover things that are available already, namely League information and guides.

A project of this magnitude would require you to sacrifice an inordinate amount of time and effort. Personally I'd donate to something like this easily if I was convinced that you're putting genuine effort and passion into this and it's not just a "maybe" thing. In my book, this would mean using whatever limited free-time you have from your cramped schedule to work on the bits and pieces which CAN be worked on now (i.e. working on the guides initially in text form).

EDIT: I just read the post below (dumb me), saying you've done quite a bit of leg-work already which is cool. Question is how does any of your "backers" know this? I know you don't want to trust strangers with your material and that's a wise move, but at the same time you're asking strangers to trust in you WITH their money :P

So you probably need a way around this. I'd suggest at least mentioning what you said in the other post of how you ARE spending most of your free time working on this thing. Also a good idea might be posting ONE very in-depth guide that would showcase your ability and dedication on the intro of your GoFundMe page as a sample of your work. You can watermark it or something like that if you're worried about it being stolen or used without your permission, and it would still be one of the many, MANY things you'd have on your site even if it was.

What I would strongly recommend is contacting a few pros and ask them if they'd be willing to support you in something like this. There are some really approachable guys out there - Scarra, Krepo, etc. - and if you can get a few of them on board you'll have a much easier time of this AND your guides will be much higher quality.

I don't have the money to support something like this, but that advice is the best I can give you.
