@RIOT People Need To Stop Calling Other People Autistic

It's starting to become a huge problem not just in League of Legends but in online games in general. Personally I think it is just a big problem as racism because it in any event its a form of discrimination used by unintelligent, ignorant, toxic idiots. In any event I think Riot needs to start treating it more serious in the tribunal if this is not already the case.

I do not suffer from any mental conditions except depression and while they are fundamentally different conditions I still understand the public stigma that surrounds mental health issues in general. Every time I see someone get called autistic in a league game I cant help but wonder if that person might actually be so and the terrible feeling they would get from being singled out in a negative way for it. I also think the community needs to start taking a stand on not only this matter but other matters such as racism or negativity in general in games. People need to shut these people down in games and maybe they will get the message. Try standing up for a fellow player by saying something to the toxic player because when you just stay silent in issues like these you automatically show support for the trolls.

I am just sick of how ignorant a good majority of the player base is in this game, and the fact that it this trend is ongoing and only growing in size is a good indicator Riot is not doing enough to combat these people in game. I would love to hear if anyone has an opinion on the subject but if your just here to add nothing to the conversation just move along. As an autist, I find this kind of activism to be more annoying than anything else. It's not a horrible feeling of being singled out, it's just a generic insult that happens to also have a technical meaning - not dissimilar to retard. What the opining player wants to communicate, they will - what the insulted player takes from it, they'll take from it. Using the word 'autistic' to disparage someone is no worse than using any other words, and focusing on the specific arrangement of letters used to insult people is missing the forest for the trees. Also,

No need to be pissy.

OP, please stop talking. you were completely raped by a self-proclaimed autistic guy at least twice already.

why are you so emotional? is it because your mom makes you consume estrogen?

Or you can grow a pair and not care what someone, who you will never meet, types on a PC hundreds of miles away from you.

so a real condition is the same as a slur...

is calling someone black a slur?

oh fyi, being silent does not show support, riot has been trying to get people to stop talking to trolls altogether for the past 5 years.

EDIT: oh JUST being the same, also just as offensive, that's even more ridiculous.

get some perspective...

and sorry to tell you but statistically speaking some races are clearly better than others.

equality isn't free, you have to work for it.

you are aware that everyone is ignorant (including you) when it comes to a lot of things too, right?

btw, ignorance is bliss.

its a form of discrimination used by unintelligent, ignorant, toxic idiots.

as an ignorant person, do you take offense to your own comment?

btw, how do you think stupid people feel when you run around spitting out words like "unintelligent" and "idiot"?

i feel like, if calling someone a name, calling someone toxic is also horribly bad as racism

I agree something needs to be done by Riot. It's just as offensive as a racist or homophobic slur, and it should be treated the same way.

ill be honest if riot just fixed there broken game pepople wouldnt get tilted but riot consistanly nerfs things that shouldnt be and buffs things that should not be buffed the problem with riot is they do not simply nerf a champion the nerf a item that that champion builds and that most of the time indirectly nerfs like 10 other champions that were just fine like i seriously dont understand why riot nerfed adc so far into the ground when adc roll was not broken if a 1200 squishy does damage i am fine with that it is when the 4k health 200 Armour 200 magic resist poppy runs down the lane killing everything bc it doesnt die this isnt league of legends this is league of tanks until someone at riot decides to nerf something toxic players in this game are 95% riots fault because when you consistantly have broken champs and they get abused game after game after game it isnt fun it is not fun to get a Veigar q to the face and instanly die when he isnt fed simply this game isnt as fun as it used to be bc riot doesnt want to fix there game ever and the never will

For me to be wrong about my perspective I would first need to identify one in the first place whereas all I did here was highlight a rampant problem and say something needs to be done about it. I have not offered any solutions myself as I would first like to hear others opinions before formulating my own. Especially some input from a Riot member would be be most helpful. My main point was that the complex nature of autism makes the pejorative use of the term even more misguided and unhelpful then some people attempt to make it out to be. Lexicographers argue it is a powerful tool used to dramatise the idea of impaired communications, to taunt those deemed not able to articulate or understand a range of ideas. But for most of the ignorant little kids in this game its a direct insult meant almost in line with an idiotic taunt.

Would love to hear some ideas from some constructive people.

Some thoughts:

First - Your wall of text is difficult to read, as it tends to blur together. Formatting it some to break it up would indicate respect for your reader, and I'd highly recommend it.

Second - When the Tribunal was active, the words "retard" and "autistic" were often considered to be "auto-punish" words, along with racial, sexual, and orientation-based slurs. With the Tribunal down, it's not unreasonable to assume that these words are considered "Extreme Toxicity," again along with racial, sexual, and orientation-based slurs. Especially when considering that Riot has stated repeatedly that they would be more strict than the Tribunal was (and have shown as much, punishing things that many Tribunal participants may not have).

Third - When combined with a quick glance over the posts you mention, it appears as though this comment:

is requesting only "yes-men" answers. Which seems contrary to your desire for discussion. It's not that I don't agree with you, here (see point 2), but comments like that make you look bad.

in what other creative way are we going to insult inferior people?
