Cassiopeia's New Lore?

Does anyone really know it? Or can point me in the right direction to view it? I was told by a few friends that her new lore has her becoming a v2.0 of Elise. Is that true?

I mean a Elise is a deceitful character that is probably undermining the authority of her progenitor, given super powers by a venomous creature, wishes to become more powerful, is now immortal( as long as she has sacrifices for the spider god), is now transformed, but can freely transform and seductress.

Where as Cassiopeia's soon to be old lore has her a for mere seductress, hating herself for what she has become, former deceitful character that used her looks and charm to gain information, gain powers against her will by choosing to break her oath, and is quick to tempered. Well that is how I view Cassiopeia and her old lore.

If someone could tell me, that would be wonderful.

The short lore was released on the PBE on Sept. 3, 2014. This was copy/pasted from Surrender@20.

"Cassiopeia is a terrifying creature - half woman, half snake - whose slightest glance brings death. The youngest daughter of one of Noxus' most influential families, she was once a beautiful and cunning temptress capable of manipulating the hardest heart. Transformed by the venom of an ancient Shuriman tomb guardian, she continues to serve Noxian interests as she always has, just in a more... visceral way."

We won't know until the full lore is released (Soon™ after the patch), but the major changes are:

Cassio may (or may not) still be the sister of Katarina (probably still is, but we just don't know for sure.)
The transformation into "hissing snake boob lady" came from raiding Azir's tomb instead of breaking a Freljord oath over a magical weapon.

I really don't like the idea of being Cass being transformed by the venom of "Random Tomb Guardian #42," but it does remove the need for an unknown Freljord chief being the catalyst.

Thank you for that information and you're right we can not know for sure until after the patch.

As for the Freljord chief, Riot could have focused on the blade used instead and related it to Shuriman. That could have been focusing her old lore with the Shuriman patch.

If you remember the Disney film Aladdin, Apu, the monkey, almost ruins everything by touching the big red jewel.

Given Cassiopeia's implied greed in Sivir's revamped lore, maybe Cass found a jade serpent dagger in the tomb of Azir/Xerath/Amumu and was cursed that way. The poison of "Random Tomb Guardian #42" is such a clichéd method.

That could work too. Actually that could work very nicely. That is a great idea.

The powers by poison is so overdone and it seems like a quick thing to go to for female characters I've noticed, not just with Riot but for a lot of things when it comes to how did this character get their powers. Sometimes it fits and works well because it is done in a true story like manner and other times it just used like filler.

I will admit that I want to hold out hope for Cassie's old lore and seeing character development into the Shuriman patch with other characters lore and not just a new lore for Cassie.

I do not mean to sound whinny and if I do then I am sorry for that.

Nothing wrong with sounding whinny. Shows you care about it. But don't hold out hope for the old lore to remain. It's all getting changed.

As someone who endured all the silence from the Lore team over the past three years, save your "hope" for the following:

Consistent back-and-forth communication from the lore team AFTER the Shurima event.
Interesting stories, in text, comic and other formats, released more frequently.

It seems nothing like Elise to me, although I don't believe it's been officially shown yet.

From what I can gather - Cassiopeia as a human learns of a treasure in Shurima (probably from a tryst in Noxian court) and employs Sivir to help her raid the tomb that it's in. The treasure seems to be ascension, which is what's turning her in to a snake goddess or some such.

They don't seem to be straying from the Noxian Seductress, and she still betrays someone (this time Sivir) in a way that doesn't seem clear (Cassio's new voice over has a line where she tells Sivir that "I discard tools that have exhausted their use" or something similar). It's unlikely that she still hates her snake body if it's what she was trying to achieve, but it's possible that the transformation was something she didn't expect or is a side effect of something else entirely (like a tomb's curse).

But I don't think that there's an official release yet, so. Speculation.

Thank you for your comment and the view you've given. That is one way of looking at it but I'm just worried about similar elements beginning used in her new lore. But it is mainly a waiting game until the patch.

I'm trying to keep a positive spin on this, even as they gut and maim my favorite champion, and all of the discussion has been held on the PBE forums that I can't get access to.

I say keep the name if for nothing else remembrance of a character that once was.

Being positive in this is good and I'm trying but when you like a character it is hard to be positive when the creators of that character want to spin them differently.

I wonder what they have been saying on the PBE forums? It would most likely have to be about her model and game play, right?

Yeah, the only Thread I could find posted by the Rioter who was running the rework was on the PBE forums. I didn't bother reading the comments, because I can't reply to anything. But the main post was just a run-down of what they were doing.

That is a shame. I mean I don't mind the idea of lore changes, if I'm being honest. But I like the idea of lore changes that help the character get more depth to them. Like keeping their original lore and finding away to add to it, that to me is a real creative way of doing it. I just think that redoing the lore of a character completely is a poor move over all.

Yeah, it's pretty drastic.

Also seems to completely change her motivation for being in the League.
