An Open Letter to the League of Legends Community and Riot Games

It's 2:15 A.M. at the time of me writing this so please any typos I may have missed; I just really wanted to get a few thoughts off my chest. My summoner name is Arratic from the NA server and I have been an avid LoL player since September 2012. I have put in hundreds of hours unto this game and I can honestly say this game has occupied more time than any other game I have ever played. And I have enjoyed every second of it.

The community is what makes this game great. And for the most part everyone that plays League is nice and plays just for the love of the game. But a few people just seem to think otherwise. In almost 3 years of playing this game, I have experienced firsthand how hateful people can become. This has been directed to me, my teammates and even my opponents. I will not lie. I too have taken part in some trolling... But there's a fine line between being a mischevious annoyance and just straight up demeaning someone just for the sake of ruining their day. This hate some people have in them just ruin things for everyone. So I do what I can. I /ignore the person, report them and hope it works out. I even used to go on the Tribunal sometimes to bring about my own experiences and to help the community.. But it feels like its never enough, because soon enough, I experience another game with someone who just takes things too seriously. It makes me wonder if this problem of toxicity will ever be cured.

I keep hoping one day that day will come, and it has gotten better since I started playing, but it feels as if the strides we have been making have been too small and ultimately ineffective. I don't know what else to do nor say. I just really hope we can all figure out what else can be done as a community to help make League a better environment where people can be free to have fun.

Thank you for your time.

It's like hoping that humanity will give up wars and violence. Unfortunately it will never happen, because most people are rotten inside, and their true self is just waiting the right circumstances to come out. Get a chance to be anononymously a terrible person? Most will take it immediately. I am not one of them, but I am the minority. So yeah.
