Why some people desire to get boosted?

To give you a bit different perspective, we can ask:

Why some people desire to have a high rank?

Why some people seek to get boosted, whilst others earn their ranks themselves?

I'd love to see some opinions of players who have (or believe to have) higher chances of giving a proper explaination than me. I feel like my mind is too far away from one of a person who wishes to get boosted, so I simply feel quite unsure and need too be really careful on these waters.

I'm not looking for input such as "they want to look cool", "it makes them feel better", nonetheless for your own good you're still very welcome and advised to discuss.
