Has Riot Considered Publishing a Game not made by them?
Hey all,
I'm wondering if anyone know's Riot's stance of being like a publisher and bringing other games into north america/europe. I know that riot's been looking to hire more people for research and development so they can create a new game, but did they ever considering publishing? Recently amazing games in theory (e.g Archeage) have been taken by U.S publishers (Trion I'm looking at you) who then proceed to horribly ruin the game's release and horribly mis-manage them. Some amazing games have been showcased in Korea's G-Star 2014 Game show such as Lost Ark (hack and slash style MMORPG) and TreeofSaviour (in my opinion the true successor to Ragnarok). How would Riot feel about becoming a publisher for games like these? Has Riot ever considered this an option or ever looked into it? I think if Riot partnered up with these games they could probably make the releases very successful. With Riot's great reputation in the community right now along side their excellent support service and outstanding communication with their player-base, I do hope that they might consider it! Lost Ark is looking really amazing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MAmn4x2r-O8 and TreeofSavior looking awesome as well https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WWYn2E9KHT8 although Nexon Korea has acquired publishing rights to this game in korea so I dont know about the latter.
It would be cool if a Rioter can chime in on their philosophy on taking the publisher role as opposed to being the creators, or potentially be something in between a publisher/developer (if that even exists?)
What are your thoughts?
