The Legendary Issue Concerning League of Legends

Hello everyone, this is UltimaCircuit. I would like to talk to with all of you today who are viewing this thread about an issue that has been plaguing the League. First, let me start off by saying that I am not a senior member or someone of a significantly higher rank within the game. I am actually a Silver 5 player. I have not come on here to sulk about any players or talk about how I am stuck in "ELO Hell" but merely to discuss something that I am pretty sure most, if not all, players have experienced. This my friends, is toxicity.

(These next few quotes do not pertain to me. These are just things that I have seen in the games that I have been playing recently.)

"Yasuo you're just a feeder."Cassiopeia "Kat want a free kill?."Corki "Is Yas r%%%%%ed? Probably got it from his parents. :)"Maokai "GG Scrubs"Blitzcrank "Fucking plebs"Leblanc "Are you stupid. Do you even know how to play adc?"Teemo

(This next story is NOT a sob story, but rather an experience)

The list goes on and on as most of you know, but I will just stop there. Not everyone is pure, and I can say that I have acted like this in the past (Season 4) and even got a warning for it. I also got banned for a week in Season 4 for just leaving games and giving up way earlier than I should have. Season 5 is a new season, so I decided to try a different approach to someone who was being referred to as a noob and a feeder. Our ADC constantly bashed on a Shyvanna who had made ONE bad engage. I told him to stop, and tried to raise the Shyvanna's spirits, telling him/her that it was only one mistake, and that we could win if he/she just stuck around the team the next time. The next time, she did just that. She even focused the enemy ADC, and we got an ace on their team. I became ecstatic, but then Shyvanna had to gloat to our ADC about her achievement, stating that she actually meant something and that she wasn't a noob. The two constantly went back and forth until our tank, Shyvanna, could not take it anymore. She started to split push, and kept split pushing even though the enemy team killed us all except for her. The enemy team went on to destroy our turrets, and her final reply to us was that it was Graves fault for harassing her.

I believe that when someone is doing bad in a game, harassing them is not an issue. When I play soccer for my high school, I do not go to my striker after missing a goal and say "stupid scrub". More people should look at it from the perspective as if that person were right in front of their face. Just like the reddiquette rule, I believe that we should be more human and empathetic to those who just messed up a little. What's the point of bashing and insulting another, if you're probably not going to see them in the future. Why tell someone that they and their parents are r%%%%%ed because they died three times in a row in a game?

I don't know if this would be possible in the future, but is there any way that there can be a warning in game if someone types to another person things like "You're r%%%%%ed" and "Ezreal is a noob"? I know that there was a reward to those who were good to others from last season (Obsidian Malphite for me. Heck yeah!) but in my view, that is not a very good method. Each season lasts a year, and I am quite sure that no one is going to not belittle another just for a RANDOM skin at the end of the season. If there cannot be a filter on toxicity, maybe there can be higher rewards at the end of the season. For example, why not have those who had displayed reputable behavior in game be rewarded with a skin that they wanted for what champion they wanted? (Of course not the super pricey skins. Just a normal skin.) Or how about they get a special border for their behavior?

These are only suggestions, and they can be totally disregarded. I just wish that there was some way to end the harassing to each other and make our community's reputation stray far from the Call of Duty kind that it, for now, possesses.

Yea, I'm trying to find new ways to deal with teammates as well.

The awards for being a positive player aren't limited to (or guaranteed to be) a skin at the end of the year. We've already also gotten a per-win IP boost, and I think there may have been another award as well. The skin is certainly the most memorable.

As for a toxicity filter, there's already a swear-filter and mute button (and of course, the report system, but that's a delayed effect). I don't know what else you want. It's not really possible to simple remove toxic commentary from the game - if you try to do so, people will just misspell or rephrase.
