To Riot and every other online tournament player
So i'm going to start off with i'm not the best writer so this may seem a bit unprofessional looking but i need to say this because i feel like riot is being stupid.
Problem#1: My first problem with any of this which contains me and my team is the fact you guys have literally stopped supporting prizing for online tournaments. Yes i read the post that you guys put out about the whole "online tournament 1% thing" and that you will be trying to figure out a way to fix this in the future. Ok Great! find a way to fix this problem and make it more enjoyable for players to use but at the same time why would you** STOP **a feature that was literally causing you no hard to have and you can try to fix the issue you have been having while it's still available? if another company like say google stopped one of their features just because they wanted to fix the problem they have been having it would cause a lot of people problems and make others angry because they wanted to fix this feature but didn't keep it up until they did. Here is an idea how about let more people know about the tournaments and advertise them so people are more aware that the opportunity for a online tournament is out there. The way i learned about the tournaments was literally somebody on my friends list about a year and half ago saying he was hosting a tournament...when i started hosting my own tournament NOBODY i contacted knew about this feature or that it even existed. Why? because you guys don't even advertise it let alone have it on the client that it's available and the only to know about it is if you search long and hard on your website...or type in on google "League of Legends Tournament" which not many people do at all. When i hosted my own tournament i got like 5-6 teams together which is like 25-30 people participating now of course that's a feeble amount compared to others but thats still a decent amount of players who were participating in a online tournament. Not only that it made me want to make my own team and then MAYBE participate in the LCS one day i even have evidence on what people said during your online tournament post.
Maseroot - Literally, this is a HORRIBLE idea. Tournaments like these is a good chance for people to RP who cant actually purchase it in the store, make the game more fun for them when they can get skins and champions they want. HKG (High Koalaty Gaming), is a great place. I love it there and it would just devastate everyone who plays in the tournaments and enjoy the fun that they have. I don't think its a great idea at all.
Jenish - This move by Riot is really terrible.
Online tournaments have a distinct place in the community. I understand that <1% player base plays in the online tournaments means there isn't enough exposure but how does dropping it all together help Riots plan on moving forward? If Riots plan is to bring people together and form communities having online tournaments is the most convenient way to do it. The
When I started playing league I had no friends on here that played league with me I was told about the game from a friend in another state. As League grew and some of my friends started to play it I had around 6 people on my friends list. As you already know making friends on league is different from other games. Here is a Reddit post taken from a day ago: Making friends on League There are comments such as it's harder due to no voice chat or the fact that you only add people when you do well with them and if you lose another game with them you are inclined to just delete or never really talk to them. This is solved by online tournaments where we have voice communication and we have online hangouts after the games are done. We connect with people outside of that one tournament we lost and then enjoy beating them in the tournament the next day. I have made more friends on league from the HKG community in 3 months than I had for 2 years playing this game alone.
Playing online tournaments means you never have to leave the comfort of your home. For someone who is not 18 yet which a pretty big part of the League community going to a live event is next to impossible. Let's be real if I am anything below Diamond or even just a casual gamer that's not into hardcore competition I am not going to be looking to drive an hour away just to see if I can win some live event.
If Riot's problem is that there isn't exposure of these online tournaments then maybe you should focus on getting the knowledge out there that you do support this kind of thing. I dropped that I was part of HKG on Reddit once and within an hour I had 10 PMs asking me how they could join.
When this goes through there will be a lot of players (<1% :P ) that will be disappointed and have nothing similar to turn to but at least I will have my friends that I made from HKG which more than what I can say for people who missed out!
that's just two out of that whole post just filled with disappointment and anger towards your guys decisions. I am fine with you guys finding a better way to fix the issue at hand but keep the feature up let the option be available...as of right now i have my team, TCG another team i met from the last tournament i was in, and then another team participating in my tournament i have hosting and its only been 3 days and there is still a month left to go to get people. Also, before this i had a lot of people saying i should host another tournament why? because it was fun literally people MADE friends at my tournament and have even made their own team because of it. Not only that i was the only one who even did free online pre-made 5v5 tournaments with riot official prizing because everybody else on the tournament website had people doing "draft tournaments" where the hosts would make you get randomly drafted to random players who you don't know on your team. a lot of people like having pre-made teams and the online feature was even better because you do the tournament at your own home/apartment and play in a free tournament. Now we can't do this at all until you guys "fix" this issue and lets be honest it won't be in within a year from now it might even be half a decade before you guys even come close to announcing it because this is literally on your back burner for you guys to solve.
Problem#2: nerfing QSS to the point where ADC's can't outplay a zed. Even doublelift mentioned that it was a stupid move by you guys and he is a pro LCS NA ADC player. Even lower elo's are complaining about it and we're not even that good gotta love when death mark does half your HP bar and there is no way to actually avoid it unless the zed is super underfed. In the past month riot i have seen you guys keep making stupid decisions and if anything hurting yourselves because you can't seem to understand or listen to your community.
Overall what you're doing is annoying and making this game slowly less enjoyable. I check on your champion updates on your site to see what's coming up next in the future big patch and what i saw is that you had yorick right after the mage update for a visual and game play update. But guess who takes the spot over him for some god apparent reason "ryze" why? ryze is already strong right now and if i want to be honest it was not that long ago until you changed the way he was played. i wanna say like early to mid season 5 he was changed where as yorick who has seen very little gameplay is being pushed aside by ryze who is literally being used by "faker" and higher ranked players. i mean ryze is still in LCS and yorick is barely being used in solo Q i mean come on give the champion some love and don't even get me started on galio.
as of right now i am agitated and annoyed by your decisions riot and i think everybody else feels the same.
