What do I do if my skill level is higher than what my MMR is?

Seriously, the "soft reset" really screwed me over this season. I always play better than everyone in my game, my games are consistant and my team just always finds a way to throw the game. Whether it be a stupid over extend, or over stay. I'll never get out of Bronze at this rate, thanks Rito for not doing a proper hard reset. I think they should reset the season after mid season invitationals, and do it right this time and do a hard reset. My MMR is wrong, and my constancy to play a good game under any pressure shows for it. My skill level is a at a Platinum level, but all I get to play with are Bronze scrubs.

"What do I do if my skill level is higher than what my MMR is?"

Step one, accept that this is not currently true.

Step two, work on making it true.

Step three, climb.

Play, rise up the ranks. If you really are that good than it shouldnt be difficult for you to carry every game, i mean, a plat in bronze games? Theres no way your team could hold you down.

Easily win your games until you reach your correct ranking, just like everyone else.

You have never been plat in your life how do you know you deserve plat status? Plat is top 10% of the server to 2% saying you plat is quite a statement. I really doubt that your that good especially with rune pages you run.

Also their never is a hard reset. Riot has always used a soft reset. The players that are better always rise to where they belong. It just takes item and effort.

If your skill level is truly higher than your MMR, just keep playing. Your win rate will reflect that, and having a win rate greater than 50% will increase your MMR until you stabilize near 50% or you hit the top of the ranks.

Here's the thing. Your account is Bronze now. Your account was Bronze last season. I don't see your Season 3 rank, but I doubt it was Platinum. What you probably are mistaking for having a Platinum skill level is being matched with Platinum players in unranked games. This is not the same thing. Normal and Ranked MMRs are different. There are a lot of ranked players who play unranked a lot less frequently once they start playing ranked. This means their ranked MMR changes, while their normal MMR remains relatively the same as it was. If someone started playing strictly ranked when his normal MMR was below 1000, if he happened to play a single game of unranked after hitting Diamond, his normal game would still match him with Bronzes.

Players with high MMRs also queue with friends in unranked games for fun, or to try new or unreliable champion/role combinations. These sorts of things can alter a game's outcomes completely. A 2000 MMR player who queues with four 800 MMR friends creates a team with an average MMR of 1040, which is still below average. A high MMR player trying out AP Ashe in an unranked game could easily still get beaten by low MMR players who aren't using sub-optimal approaches.

If you're as good as Platinum, it's nearly impossible to be stuck in Bronze. The skill disparities are too large.

there is no way your skill level is at platinum. you have some good games and some bad games but you are playing against bronze 3-5 players. do you know what a real platinum would do in lane against bronze 5s?

you recently went 8-11 and got outfarmed against a bronze 5 tristana. your support was 5-4-22 you cant blame him. your jungle was 8-4-16 and got an early double kill in your lane you cant blame him. if you are plat how do you get beat by a bronze 5 tristana who has a worse support and worse jungler?

If you are better than bronze your team should not be enough to hold you back especially if your skill really is at a platinum level. I got placed Bronze 1 this season after being silver 2 last season. It did not take me long to get out of bronze and now I am gold 5. You dont need to fight 1v5 you just need to win the fight for your team. If you are trying to 1v5 them, then there is your problem.

Your Lolking shows that you are inconsistent. Some games you do really well, others it looks like you are feeding.

tl;dr You are not plat skill.

If you play two games and lose both, that's not a very good sample. If you have a 45% winrate out of 141 games and you're still bronze V, odds are you're doing something wrong. Keep in mind there are lots of different types of skill - the obvious two being mechanical and strategic. Having good mechanics == being a good player. If you're winning laning phase and still losing the game, it may be that you're good at the laning phase and less good after - maybe you don't do teamfights well, your objective focus is off, or maybe something like you don't ward enough - by the way, you don't. The thing that's going to get you out of bronze is shifting your locus of control from an external one to an internal one. Whether you realize it or not, assuming that your win is largely out of your control will cause you to perform worse, because there would be no point in trying harder. This is not a conscious decision - it's just what our brains do because that's what it thinks is efficient. Don't think "I deserve platinum," think "I'm not good enough for diamond," or whatever you feel you're at. Let your current rank go where it should go. It's true that you may go against players that don't belong in bronze, if you play enough games your winrate will average out. You can get three tails in a row, sure - but Occam's razor - it's probably not luck after 141 games. There's a reason Bjergsen isn't in bronze, and it's not chance.

Carrying is physically impossible in bronze, sorry. Supports don't buy SS, no one buys upgraded trinket, it's completely unsalvagable. The entire divison needs to get nuked off the face of the earth

Skill level is higher than MMR? What do you do? Win games easily lmao. I grind it out to gold every year and bronze is stupid easy to get out of and so is silver. There is no ELO hell. You jusy play the meta in the rank youre in. accept that the "broken OP" champs that most people complain about are not likely broken in your low ELO. accept that katarina and yi are busted in bronze and abuse that shit to climb out (i dont but its the truth) Any champion that requires CC and coordination to be shut down to any degree works wonders in those ELOs because its exactly what most cant do.

Project Riven4/25/2015, 9:42:21 AM1 votes

This is the ELO hell I've been talking about in my previous posts. You're crowded in a bunch of people that generally don't understand the game as much as you do. The 4 players on your team is enough to bring you lower and lower.

People always say, if you're good, you'll do good and be where you're at. Unfortunately, it doesn't take 1 person to win games, and it does take 1 person to lose games. When 4 players on your team consistently make mistakes and play poorly where in team fights, they're dead as soon as it starts, there is no way, not even a challenger or master can do anything about it.

All it takes is that one player that feeds another opponent way beyond you and that opponent will carry just as hard as you who is a little behind him/her. You can snowball an adc to the max and he/she can still fail in team fights.

However, the truth is don't blame others and always look at your plays, but you can't say that what I just said doesn't exist and majority of the games is exactly how I described.

No you deserve bronze V Your cs is no where near plat levels ever, it's not even silver II levels.

GroundRuleDouble4/25/2015, 3:56:29 PM1 votes

You're either where you are supposed to be or close to it. My MMR is really bad. I'm probably high bronze skill, but I just learned what play style fits me. Before that, I was at 0 LP in Bronze V for the longest time, so my MMR kept tanking. Now, I'm halfway through Bronze IV (took me about a week) by only playing Thresh support. When I win, I get between 9-12 LP, and when I lose, I lose around 21 LP. This shows that my MMR is TERRIBLE, but I know that the more I play, the better it will get eventually.
