So I just played a game Of "league Of Legends"

I have never been so unhappy playing a video game than just now. What has the community come to, when someone cares more about a game than a human beings life? I was told "die of cancer seeirously holy fk", to witch I replied with in all chat "Please report syndra we told me 'die of cancer'. My mother has cancer and he has no idea what kind of awful pain she lives with everyday". What I read next left me in shock, an enemy player said 'deal with it'. I thought to myself; how could someone be this cruel? I asked in all chat, 'do you have any idea how much it hurts to see someone you love die slowly of an awful disease?' again the enemy team replied with "deal with it". One player on the enemy team said "lost my grandpa to cancer, blows". Even someone who seems to have known what it's like to lose a loved one doesn't seem to care more about his grandpa than the game he was playing. I have never seen players bee THIS un-compassionate to other human beings.

I'm sorry but this is the internet. Unfortunately you do have to deal with it. Report them and mute them and move on with your life hoping they never surface as politicians.

Welcome to online play, which is anonymous and unrated. If someone is just being toxic, mute them and report them later. Riot takes death threats seriously, so be assured they will learn their lesson if they make what sounds like a serious threat.

sorry for your game being toxic. sometimes you gotta ignore the hate and just play. so don't let someone take advantage of your feelings and strive to be an honest and good player. and i wish the best for you and your mother.

She shouldn't have said that, but you should have reacted differently. Trying to convince others to report is not only futile, as only one report is needed for the instance to get reviewed, but it also just brings more negative blowback on you. Next time just mute them. Also "un-compassionate" isn't a word.

Well when my 4 year old cat was dying, I was told "fuck your cat." Gotta love LoL players and the rotten hearts they have!

Honestly incidents like these are rare, but all you can do is mute and report and hope something comes of it.

cuz noone cares.. its really that simple. its like why do people donate to something they care about and not the starving people in africa? the answer is in the question. they say whatever cuz they dont care, they want to win nothing else. dont look for sympathy and a utopia of people singing kumbaya on a competitive game. its sad really. not even being mean theres a different place for all that and its not league

Gets a lil better in higher elo/mmr. That terminology isn't used quite as often.

Well in defense of the stupidity.. dont bring your life problems to the game.. People all over the world everyday are having horrible things happen to them.. so much so that no one cares about your problems.. especially in a game. Now i am not defending there behavior i just know from experience that bringing up sad things just makes people uncomfortable and annoyed.... mostly annoyed.

Get his username, report it directly to support. That's some serious issues. Sorry for your mother though, best wishes man. :(

Welcome to the internet. It's not a fun place.

It's hard to keep up with ragers and trolls, but there's a mute button to keep your sanity. There are huge jerks out there, and there always has been, and players are just not nice. It's hard, but that's the price of being at the internet.

Tips:

  1. Mute
  2. Ignore, they're not saying it for real
  3. Whatever you do, don't talk back (aka Dont feed the troll)
  4. Report afterwards and help this community become cleaner by like 0.0000001% (still alot)

When you play a game of League, you need to leave your emotions and sensitivity behind. It's League. It's a free game, so all kinds of people are going to get on it. Also, the age radius is pretty large, so you're going to have little kids on it too. When I get into these situations, I try to just put my hands in my lap and take a couple deep breathes. And in all seriousness, that doesn't always work. However. You can't bash the whole community for certain people. The community as a whole isn't that bad, the majority are actually really nice. I find sometimes, that when you have a toxic player, muting them is the first step to a peaceful and non frustrating game.

Eh its the rough thing on internet.

You have one person as yourself who is sincere in their words. Then you'll have another person who will say same thing as you just to try and get more reports on a teammate

Some of these kids are so numb due to trolls/media they just say w/e. The communities gotten better thanks to riots awesomeness, but still not perfect i agrees

You cant really change them. Since it is the internet, you cant do anything but mute and report. People are always more cruel when there are no consequences for them to deal with. I am sorry that you are going through this. My aunt has breast cancer for the 3rd time, and the doctors don't think she will beat it this time. Best of luck to you.

The effect of anonymity there. If people think you don't know who they are and have no way of finding them, they'll say things they would never say otherwise. Might not be true for some, but it is for most. I, myself, have said things I wouldn't if not for the protection of anonymity.

This isn't a league of legends problem. This is a human being problem. People on the internet don't care about your mother and they aren't going to believe everyone who has a dying mother.

If you can't even handle that low level crap. Then never become a telemarketer

Toa of Death10/26/2014, 7:04:39 PM1 votes

You do realize they don't really mean the things they say? This is a competitive game and competition makes people more aggressive than they usually are. I'm usually a nice person and even I get pissed when a match isn't going good. Don't let one or two people make you think the WHOLE community is full of assholes.

Humans aren't what they used to be. People are being desensitized to human interaction, compassion, and consideration because of the internet. People are too busy staring at a screen be it computer, TV, or smartphones. I feel bad for future generations.

Sir Bulldog10/27/2014, 3:13:30 AM1 votes

Let me get this straight: You want the most popular, most played game in the world to only have nice people playing it? Is that correct? I'm sorry but that just isn't reality. There are over 100 million people playing league every day. To get rid of all the jerks and idiots is an insurmountable task that pretty much impossible.

I would suggest you make liberal use of the mute and report functions. If you can't handle the jerks, then you probably shouldn't be playing league, because it will happen whether you like it or not. I've had people call me everything imaginable; threaten to rape me; and have been told to hurry up and die. You need to learn to ignore these idiots if you want to play league of legends. I am in no way condoning what they did. What they did was wrong! But, you need to know that is what the shape of the world is right now. Notice I used the word "world." Life is an ugly place sometimes. You just need to press forward and move on.

Sorry about your mom. Losing your mother is a terrible thing. Hope things go well for your family.

well this is the internet and they are dicks, but don't expect everyone to join your pity potty. I don't mean to offend you in anyway but that's life for ya. I wish you luck if you continue to play league and, remember thier is a mute button
