Spectator Mode Replay File for LCS Matches
The LCS matches are incredibly fun to watch, and for some people they are a great learning tool or even serve as another avenue of interest in analyzing them. It would be great if we had the ability to rewatch the LCS matches in the same spectator capability that they are viewed in live, or just simply the way that we view our normal replays now. It wouldn't be too difficult either, there are two possible methods:
A) The esports division releases a file containing the match for download, similar to how we download the video file for replay when viewing our own matches. We can then load this into our client, or into the same folder that automates the replay action and then view the spectator mode through the client.
B) Similar to the method that op.gg uses to view live games of profiles, load it into the client that method and watch the replay as if it was a live match.
Of course these are very simplified versions as I do not understand entirely the technical sides of it, and for all my knowledge may be missing they might actually be the same method. With some additional function in the client to pull the LCS match downloads automatically (such as a similar button on the match history page, but on a separate esports page) it would be very user friendly for people to watch.
Additionally, from a business standpoint this acts as a continuing point of marketing for any teams or advertising that may appear on the screen in future spectator broadcasts. There is typically space for logo'ing or information on the bottom left of the spectator window and information displayed throughout the lcs match along the bottom. These areas can be adjusted for the downloadable spectator file to hold some sort of marketing ability and thus make allowing spectator access to matches monetarily valuable for Riot as well. Just some thoughts, sometimes it isn't as fulfilling watching a VOD or watching the game without having the ability to see other points of interest on the map that the production crew finds less interesting for the whole viewership.
