it's like spitting on someone's face but instead your spitting on the blade which is going to go inside of their body. So really you're spitting inside of their body which is worse than just spitting on their face

From what I know:

A samurai sword had to taste blood before being put back into it sheath. I assume the Sake is to be a replacement of blood.

that is just a story. they say crap like that to entertain tourists, mostly the american kids obsessed with poor english translations of manga. i tis probably something mistranslated from a manga, tbh. 2. You are probably thinking of Nihonshu
