The value of IP has gone down
I’ve been playing this game for over 6 years. I’ve spent and won enough RP for skins and champions in the early days, and I’m not here to say if that was right or wrong, but what I’m here today is to say the value of IP has gone down.
I remember when I’d get on and play my heart to grind for that new champion, now it’s handed to be whenever a new one comes out. Yes, the champion shards are useful since you can get a permanent champion that you do not own, and when you already have 3k+ blue essence it isn’t really that important to stockpile them anymore, anyway.
The only thing left to buy is a few runes that are so bad that I can’t force myself to buy them; they will just take room up in my inventory. They are just clutter. The Chroma skins that came out for 2k ip was indeed a great success and I spent a good chunk of ip on them, but since then it’s been stagnant.
I have, as it sits 43.4k ip and nothing to do with it. It’s the equivalent of 542 games of ip just sitting there. (an estimate of 80 ip per game). Why can’t I spread the love? Why can’t I gift with IP? I’ve grinded for this IP and I have friends that I’ve grinded with and they haven’t played as long as I have. They don’t have the amount of IP to buy new champions. I don’t want to do a name change; I love my summoner name and have had it for nearly 6 seasons. So there is nothing I can do with this IP and I want to donate it to friends, but I can’t.
I’m not saying to make it practical to gift with IP, by any means. This is a free to play game and with the ability to get every champion for free, but give us the option. A champion is 6300 ip? Put a tax on it and make it 10k ip to gift. What is 10k ip to me anyway? A new champion for a friend could inspire him to get a skin for it in the future, or even better, play more.
What are your thoughts summoners who have more IP than to know what to do with? Should we ask the Riot gods to give us a window to gift with ip? Maybe give us a permanent ip gifting option? I’m not sure, but what I do know is simple. The value of IP has gone significantly, and I’m not too happy about it.
