Challenger Ahri Storms Back into Snowdown

Hey everyone,

I wanted to explain why we put Challenger Ahri back into the Store for the duration of Snowdown.

I know there are going to be a number of you who think this is awesome, a number of you whom this frustrates, and likely a larger group that is just kind of confused. I can’t speak to each group separately so I can’t directly address those emotions, but I can talk to why Challenger Ahri is back now.

There is a very small likelihood that you can end up with Challenger Ahri as an option in your individual Your Snowdown Shop. But if the skin is not currently available in the store and you try to buy it, you get a big fat error. We don’t want that. And we‘re pretty sure you wouldn’t want it either.

That’s why we feel the best thing to do is to re-include Challenger Ahri in Snowdown. That means she’ll be available for the duration, and will be included in the Snowstorm sale for 50% off on 12/17. We’ll also extend that sale for 24 hours through 12/18 because this is such short notice. And she’ll still be available when the season starts in January with a day at 50% off because we’ve promised that as well. Going forward, you should expect Challenger Ahri (and future Challenger skins) to only make appearances for particular esports-related occasions.

_Note: You will be unable to purchase any skin - including Challenger Ahri - from Your Snowdown Shop if the skin is currently discounted in the store. Since Snowstorm sales each last one day, this generally means that if you come back the next day, the skin will be purchasable in your personal shop again. _

Thanks for the update - just wanted to say I absolutely ADORE the Snowdown Shop system of catering skin sales to our play style. It's really exciting to open the skins since you know there's a high chance you'll be interested in them. very fun. :)

I too love the idea and it works quite well, however I feel that some things are a little off. For example, i've been playing a little Veigar (Heh) because I got Final Boss Boss Veigar in a mystery skin a while back, and it offered me Baron Von Veigar, which seems fairly accurate and reasonable. Same with Prehistoric Anivia, Blightstone Varus and Frozen Nocturne.

However I have't played Nidalee often, at all. For example, the last time I played Nidalee was the 30th of September, with one ARAM game more than a week before that*, however the shop offered me two nidalee skins, despite me playing many other characters much more often.

I'm not expecting changes, and again, it works quite well. However I thought i'd just give a little feedback.

Same, I got two Annie skins a fiddlesticks skin a katatina skin and a galio skin, all of whom I play a lot.... And than I got a mundo skin. I've played him like twice, probably in like July.

My best guess (Crab is not around atm) would be when the 2015 Championship Skins come out, or next year around world's time (at the latest). Hope this helps!

What about those who originally purchased under the impression of it being a limited skin, for esports and such as you mentioned? I get you stated the sale and you wanted to keep your word as a company. I also get the wanting to make it available to those who might not have been playing at the time or on a hiatus. Im just not satisfied with it be placed on a %50 sale twice, when released it was given the impression the same as the riot line as well as the championship riven vibe.

Those who disagree, generally didnt pay full price for this skin.

Championship Riven is pretty much the only exception due to contract.

Pretty much every limited availability skin (Challenger, Championship, Snowdown, Harrowing) comes back yearly.

I don't know why you expected it to be available one-time-only.

I never stated i didn't expect a yearly release. I used CS Riven as a more limited example, i stated championship as well as the riot skin line. That quote if anything is out of context. I was stating that when it was going to be released in the future, the impression we were given was that of exclusivity. When it would come back, it would cost the original amount.

I totally agree with you. Don't get me wrong, I have absolutely no problem about it being available again but honestly 50% sale twice AND then for up to 70% sale?? I dont know, I just dont think its really fair to us who instabought the skin thinking it would NEVER go on discount.

When it was released it was mentioned that it was a legacy skin, meaning it will return. However, many people never expected it to go on a 50% sale a year later since people were under the impression that Challenger Ahri was similar to other Championship/Team skins, which are available occasionally in the store but never at a reduced price except in bundles (and special events like the Snowdown Shop).
I do believe original Challenger Ahri owners deserve a compensation of some sort since if this information was available beforehand it might have caused a lot of owners to make different decisions. It doesn't have to be big, maybe just something like an IP boost, IDK, but the complete lack of a gesture of goodwill is disappointing at least.

Well, great news then! Just bought her here on EUW.

As a note: I was not expecting at all her to go on sale honestly (before Snowstorm sales I mean). Yet the way you guys decided to treat this affair and, specially, the open communication you've had with this are the real spotlight here. I just want to thanks you for doing such an excellent job on this, keep it up!

Basically, I read it as "the skin will be available for all of snowdown for either full price or a discount if you get it in your personal shop, but for the next 2 days everyone can get it for 50% off due to our (Riot's) error.

Thanks for acknowledging the mistake and putting her skin on sale anyway! Ahri However can I ask what happens to our Snowdown Shop slot? Challenger Ahri was 5th in my Snowdown Shop, do I get a new one to replace her as that one is technically useless now as you have explained?

One thing to note is that the 50% off sale is only for 48 hours while your personal shop will give you a bit more time to figure it out. This may not be relevant for players who can readily reload their accounts but for a large number this delta is significant.

Unfortunately, we won't be able to make alternate offers to players who had challenger Ahri in one of their slots - but if players like their Shops then we hope to bring them back a couple of times next year as well.

I got challenger ahri in my snow day shop for 40% and kept getting the error but after I spammed the buy button for a long time it finally bought it but the next morning I see it for 50% off in the shop which means I spent 98RP more when they said they werent going to release it :/ wish they could of said "hey ! Were putting ahri back on sale the 17th still!" Before opening the snow day sales. Like really had to buy more RP twice due to these mistakes. It might only be 98RP but I really want it back

About Ahri Challenger, what if she's proposed in our Personal Shop at the moment for less than 487 RP (292 or 390 RP for instance) ? Does it mean we have to buy it for 487 RP no matter what ? Or does it mean we will be able to buy Challenger Ahri for 292 or 390 RP in 48 hours ? Can we have a sale price difference already? She's also taking one slot for nothing in the personal shop atm.

If she is in Your Snowdown Shop for 70% off then you will have to wait until her regular 50% off sale is over to grab her at 70% off- sorry about the wait!

I purchased rp because I got a sick deal. challenger ahri skin + champ for 550 rp is pretty sick. So does that mean I get to purchase it after the 50% discount is over?

Thanks for putting Challenger Ahri back on!(bought it in a heartbeat). My Snowdown shop came up with some really cool skins, but I wish we could have like a reroll or something because I got multiple skins for thresh (when I already have the CS skin), Viking tryndamere when I already have warring kingdoms and sultan and so on. It could be made so you have a random reroll on one of your offers (20 through to 70%) not of your own choice. It's probably just me being an old grinch over my own misfortune but yeah those are just my thoughts.

That's awesome! I'm loving the snowdown shop. It's probably the best thing I've ever seen on league. And the icons purchasable with ip? I'm really glad that this game has employees who really do care about the community, not just about earning money. You don't deserve all the hate you sometimes (actually, on every post) get. So, when will we be able to open our personal snowdown shop again? The entire shop's been broken, basically, since the snowdown shop was supposed to open back on the 16th. The EUNE server status doesn't say anything about this http://status.leagueoflegends.com/?en_GB#eune

...and this is the NA boards, which us on EUNE doesn't necessarily frequent.

So where on EUNE is this information being posted? Any post made outside NA which explains why the snowdown shop is now unavailable?

So I guess now everyone will get a free mystery icon for our troubles.

And this isn't the first time EUNE's been held in the dark either - for example, we never got this page on our server: http://na.leagueoflegends.com/en/news/store/sales/icons-down-under

I tried to buy the skin but got "an error has occurred" message. This is what support told me:

"Looks like your Snowdown Shop showed Challenger Ahri, which was not intended. Since this was our mistake we're going to honor that sale for you. This means you will be able to make the purchase of Challenger Ahri directly from your Snowdown Shop, however you will need to wait until 12:01 AM PST on 12/19 to do so, since she is currently on discount in the main store."

But she was never in my shop and it's after the time they told me and she hasn't been placed in my shop or anything. I've replied to support again but there is no response yet.

I wasn't able to buy it during the recent sale because of an error and as a current ahri main i feel really cheated on this. And to top it off riot says this line to me and can't follow through? "Since this was our mistake we're going to honor that sale for you. This means you will be able to make the purchase of Challenger Ahri directly from your Snowdown Shop"

I was a little dissapointed with the snowdown shop. I got 3 alistar skins. Although I did play a lot of alistar, I already had the best skin for him. I recieved 3 skins for him in the shop, all of lower quality thatn the one I have. I bought rp for it nad didn't get anything good.

Does this also apply to other skins? I have Arcade Sona for 70% off and it is not allowing me to purchase it in my Snow down shop. Is it because I don't have the champion unlocked or is there another thing I need to do to buy it? I already bought the RP i need to get the bundle but it wont allow me to buy it.
