A simple rant about connection issues.

I suppose I guess it's a great thing Leaver Buster has been implemented, Through my four years with league of legends I've seen them strive to uphold a community wide honor code to combat leavers and praise good sportsmanship. I praise Riot for their constant effort to make the game just as fun from the first game, to the thousandth. But, I can say throughout the years I've battled with my internet connection, either through better or worse there have been games where I just couldn't stay due to failing routers or unforeseen disasters in the local community. As of recently, I have had a bout of DNS failures, for some odd reason. I assumed hamachi had bugged, and by removing it I had ceased a lot of the issues that I had faced... But you can't remove Leaves or AFK's. Last December I have faced the first sights of Leaver Buster. I've never before been confronted with the new and unleashed beast (I honestly never thought I would). It had stated that should I leave or AFK (Which I assume means up to 11 minutes into the game....), I would be punished. I agreed to these rules, Eager to battle more with my comrades and fight once more for a game that I have adored for ages, but the issues had remained. I battled my internet, striving to get it on in a reasonable pace.. but no avail. Eleven minutes into the game, I finally reconnect, after finally restarting my PC. but the damage was done. throughout the battle we fought to regain our lead, and eventually we did for an amazing game. but then I was confronted with a message:

"Abandoning a match or being AFK results in a negative experience for your teammates, and is a punishable offense in league of legends. You've been placed in a low priority queue." "5 minutes.

I was horrified. My friends and I were horrified, They weren't concerned that my computer had crashed, or router had failed. we just wanted to play! This delayed our games for 5 minutes. Which wasn't so bad, we could just YouTube in the meantime, joking back in fourth about repairing a certain someones potato... but game after game the delay was a nuisance to deal with. and I saw how many intentional griefers were punished.. "But why me..?" I thought. "Why must I be put through all this.. and Gods save me if this happens again!". I stressed out, and googled all the magical tips and tricks. "It's a DNS Error, use Command prompt to fix it" "It's a Firewall bug! add it to your exemption list!"

I tried everything, and for a while life was good. but than it happened again, and sure enough..

"Abandoning a match or being AFK results in a negative experience for your teammates, and is a punishable offense in league of legends. You've been placed in a low priority queue." "10 minutes"

that's 50 minutes total, 50 minutes wasted just waiting... And what if it happens again? 15? 20? This is absurd!. I respect fully that this is apt for intentional grievers who completely disregard other peoples intents... but this is ridiculous. I love League of Legends, and I plan to continue playing it, I strive to be on the competitive scene, but I feel router error and obvious disconnections should be exempt from this. It not only reflects poorly on me, showing my lack of character.. but it prevents my friends from being able to play with me for the games that I have to wait through.

As stated. I love you guys. I hope you keep succeeding throughout your many more years of competitive gaming. I post this onto Misc, just for you to read and take as a grain of salt. I don't expect anything to be done (As stated on support, LeaverBuster will NOT be removed in any circumstance). Cheers. ~Echito

I fully understand that it feels unfair, but you are also queuing up to play a game with other people. Just because you aren't causing the disconnection doesn't mean it's not impacting the other people playing the game.

I spent a year not playing League unless I was at a friend's place because I knew my internet would cause issues and it's frustrating for me, but it's also not fair to other people if you "just wanna play" and your internet issues are making the teams unbalanced.
