Dear Fellow Summoners,

Why is it that despite taking a full year of my life away to get to level 30, ignoring homework and the like to get such an accomplish, and being placed in Silver V despite never being in Ranked before; Why is it that when we lose, people always blame my gender? What is it with being female and playing female characters (Lux, Nami, Annie, etc.) make it so that my team simply can not win? Just this last game I played, we knocked down all of the enemy's exterior turrets, grabbed their mid inhib a few times, and when I suggested Baron, no one listened. So what happened? Enemy team grabbed Baron, they crushed us, and we lost. My team's response? Girls shouldn't play Ranked, and I should just quit because my actions caused the team to lose. I admit, I play mainly support/mid, and I have a few bad days, but because I am female my few mistakes are escalated into "Well, she's a girl (Or other words, mainly derogatory, towards the female gender), it's no wonder she can't play well." Why? Especially today, when all of the male players I've encountered are too busy playing League because they don't have girlfriends/wives, they take out their anger on the poor girl who just wants to try and rise to Silver V again after being demoted to Bronze I. My response to their accusations is usually that I'm a support. I support ADC's, Junglers, and everyone on my team alike. But when you run away and leave me 1 v 3/4, how am I supposed to catch up when you simply use me for kill fodder so you can get away? Just because I'm not a guy, I'm not an important member to the team? You won't listen to my advice or suggestions for a plan? With all these pink and frilly characters, I find it shocking that so many men would rather play Nami or Ashe or Annie rather than having an actual girl play a girl character, or even letting females play the game without flirtatious/threatening remarks. It's best to just ignore it, I know, but I just want to bring this to light. It should not be this hard to go to a game and play for a good forty minutes without someone noticing I'm a girl and proceeding to joke about raping me. No, I am not a feminist, I am not an SJW. I am just someone who doesn't want to deal with boys blaming them for losing and almost getting banned because of it. It's just not fair.

P.S. To all you guys/girls out there who support the female players of League, here's hoping you have all the Viktor ies you can ever have. You're the reason I keep playing.

Gender is irrelevant, but how did gender even come up in conversation? Did you mention you were a girl in game? If you did, you deserve to be flamed for your gender. No, not because I'm sexist (I strongly believe in gender equality) but because there was no reason to mention it in the first place - it's inherently an attention-seeking act. Do I go around mentioning that I'm a guy in games? No.

That said, if you don't mention it, I'm sorry you face these issues. I might suggest changing your summoner name or icon, but I don't think it's that easy to notice you're a girl based on that.

It's worth noting that in low Elo people don't listen to objective calls regardless of gender, so maybe you're just overanalysing it. At the end of the day, you're stuck where you are because you need to learn the basics of the game, not because your team mates are being toxic or whatever. Practice the game basics, and you'll naturally get to higher Elo (people don't really know the basics of the game until mid-low Gold).
