Windows 10 randomly updating

Anyone know how to stop Windows 10 from updating automatically? It restarts the computer (In the middle of the game) and takes like an hour. This is insane.

Thanks for any help.

I don't think I can help you if it decides you absolutely need to restart and install updates at that exact point.

If you don't want it to download updates randomly, you should change your connection to be listed as metered (instructions are online).

You will have to undo this when you want to update your computer, but it will stop unauthorized update downloads.

Go to Setting - Network and Internet - Advanced Options

Now u will see a metered Connection option Toggle it -ON-

Now your pc will never update on its own.

Hope this helps !!

You're on a laptop, aren't you?

The automatic updates are scheduled for a time when you don't typically use your computer (mine typically get scheduled for something like 2 in the morning). That said, laptops get shut down and can't apply updates automatically at those times, so after having a critical update pushed off so long they've got to go and update whenever they can.

The best solution: Take care of your computer and manually check for updates at night. The solution you want: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=how+to+stop+windows+10+from+automatically+updating

Same thing happened to me all the time.
You have to go to settings and click a manual restart time and choose it. Once you get to their automatic time without changing it, its too late to stop it

Easiest way to get to those settings is to click on the message when it comes up, and it'll take you to it
