Explain placements plz

I was s2 in season 5, so I figure I would be placed similarly. Well I went 7-3 for my placements and thought that was pretty good. Welp imagine my surprise when I was placed in b2. Like I don't get it I did well and get placed lower than my original tier, a entire tier lower I might add. Too many to count.
