Dear Riot Games
I. AM. PISSED.
Why am I so upset you might ask. Well, maybe it has something to do with how you are repeatedly ignore us, your player base, when it comes to this great game we all know and love. Now, there is a large part of League that many people are upset with that I ignore or am ok with (hextech unboxing, if you don’t like it don’t spend your money it’s still a free game). That is why I’m not going to complain about broken champions (even if there are some that need to be fixed but instead we get a 3rd Ryze rework, but I’ve long since accepted their existence and have learned to work around them the best I can), but instead I am here to complain about something, or the lack thereof, all us players hold dear to our hearts.
Ultra Rapid Fire (URF). We, league players, love URF and we wait patiently every year for the day it comes back, so why must you insist on keeping it away from us!? IF, you want to talk about AR URF then there is the door right behind you because no matter what you say that is not URF, because it lacks the key ingredients that made URF so much fun. While it might have the low cooldowns and buffs that URF has, AR URF takes away our freedom the moment you make it ALL RANDOM. Oh us League players just love RNG (sarcasm) and that moment when you’re pulling your hair out because the enemy team consists of Fizz, Ahri, Karthus, LeBlanc, and Evelyn is the best feeling as they kill you in your fountain because you thought it was the only safe refuge from their BM but you thought wrong.
Now, as a rotating game mode, AR URF is ok as it gives us a taste of the URF we all love, but not, and I repeat, but not if it is at the cost of normal URF because part of what made URF so much fun was picking some champion that I want to build some randomnbuild then I can; and I’ll have blast doing it with my friends doing it because they are all doing the same thing. It doesn’t matter if I play full AP attack speed Gnar 20 games in a row because it will be fun trying to perfect a build that would never work in a regular game. Instead in AR URF I have to get a random champion (who isn’t actually random since it’s based on an algorithm of the most play champions of last year’s URF) and pray to God that my team has a good comp and that the other team isn’t the team I just mentioned. I lost track how many times I would play the same champion 5 times in a row because on how non-random the game mode actually is and I’m not having fun because it’s not a champion I want to play. You need to understand that AR URF is not URF and that it is not as fun and normal URF. So, taking all of this into account and seeing that it is April, the month where we expect URF and what did you do? You. Made. AR (you really do know how much we love RNG) SR. WTF. Are you serious. You took normal summoner’s rift and you made it random. Those broken champions I mentioned earlier, well guess what the enemy team gets every game and guess what we get. Go ahead, guess. Now, normally I would have no problem with a boring and non-fun game mode as I can simply just not play it, but again you messed up April Fools up and didn’t give us URF but instead gave us some AR URF before April and instead gave us no new game mode at all until a week later you gave us ARSR like it was something we even wanted in the first place. Again. WTF. Riot? Please listen to us once in a while and don’t give us things we don’t want and take the things we do want out (remember Sword of the Occult, we sure do).
I would be the first to admit you guys do cool things sometimes (your April fools joke this year with advance bot testing and Yasou’s rework were good), but you sometimes miss the mark entirely. I’ve finally reached my limit. I’ve enjoyed League of Legends since I first started playing it, even when all my friends started switching to other games I stuck with it because I had fun and wanted to get better, and they all came back later, but now I’ve reach all I can take and in the past couple months I’ve been frequenting other games more and more often. Riot please, if you want us to really appreciate you, and League of Legends to its full extent, just stop, stop doing what you are doing and realize you’re only hurting us and our love for the game. Stop and actually listen to us when we get upset and don’t just assume a new champion or a new game mode will pacify us. We all have our limits. Even me.
