League of Legends Social Network

Although it is convenient to simply add friends to Facebook whom you meet on league of legends to get to know them better, and there are other websites like Mobafy to meet fellow LoL players online, I believe that League of Legends itself, with its increasing popularity around the world, could become a powerful Social Networking Tool in its own right while expanding its audience even further in the process. When I log on to my LoL account I see a basic friends list and a big "PLAY" button at the top of the screen used to start a new game along with some recent updates about the game. Why not adopt a model like Facebook or Instagram and incorporate it directly into the League of Legends gaming experience. Instead of a simple profile like the ones in the game now, why not a more in depth profile about the person themselves instead of simply their characters and game-play? One where you could post pictures and videos of both your in-game and out-of-game experiences. Perhaps awards could be given to players with large amounts of friends or followers. I firmly believe this would make the League of Legends community feel much smaller and closer together and could revolutionize the entire online gaming experience.

the reality is there's no room in the world for more major social networks... people don't want to follow a dozen different networks, they want everything centralized.

The closest you can get that'll be successful are things like Blizzard's bnet client where you can communicate with people across multiple games.

Not saying it's a bad idea, mind you, just that it's a bit of an oversaturated space right now.

That being said, giving people full profiles would be an awesome touch and something I've been in favour of for a LONG time. Profiles give people a sense of ownership of their account... they make the account feel like theirs in stead of just a gaming login and I think full profiles would probably help improve the quality of community interactions overall.
