What even IS blind pick anymore?

Is it used mainly as a practice base for ranked? Is it like the step up from bots? Is it played merely for fun?

I play blind pick simply to avoid the wait times for a draft pick lobby. But I've noticed that those who play blind seem to think that Blind pick is completely different from draft pick in that reports don't mean anything, you could be a troll without receiving punishment, feed without repercussions, call order is sometimes not honored, Blind pick has turned into a joke. Or so the community seems to feel that way?

the playing of Camille sparked this conversation, As Ive witnessed many 'first time camille' players in blind pick. This bothers me, because you would NEVER play a champ for the first time in ranked, so why is blind no big deal? Ultimately we could lose a blind pick game because someone didnt know their champ properly and in ranked, thats a super nono, but in blind, its no big deal.

But to me it is a big deal, because blind and ranked are ultimately the same thing minus the lp and skill potential (minus the risk). They take the same time to play, and ultimately that player may still compromise the game (30 min) for everyone....why is this not a big deal?

I get bots are boring especially when you're learning a new champ, But is learning a champ in blind Really the way to go?

I think people learn picks, like Camille, in blind because they won't get banned? As for trying champions out for the first time, I see that happen in Normal Draft too...

Blind is for people who don't want to play bots, but are below level 30 or don't have enough champions. They have to try champs for the first time somewhere, and bots don't help you learn.

You can't really learn a champion in bots because it's too easy and you develop bad habits that won't work in a real game. Blind has always been a more casual queue, and I don't see that changing any time soon.

To me, blind picks is a for-fun mode where I can play my Quinn or Nidalee supports without really caring about the outcome of the game, or strategic thought process throughout.

I have absolutely no intention of climbing the blind picks elo. It's just to play a champion for fun in any position.

Draft mode I"ll at least try to pick a champion that is good for the role I get. I won't quinn/niddy (usually) support there.

As for ranked, I try to pick only champions I have a lot of experience with.

Blind pick is for having fun with friends and trying out crazy off-meta comps or playing champs that are normally banned in draft pick.

Either that or it's where you find all the salt. Draft pick is so much more chill.

Generally, you go there if you don't have access to Normal Draft or want to practice a new/perma-banned champion.

Otherwise, it is pretty much pointless.

Norml Draft is used to practice for ranked games (if it is available in your region).
