So, you think League of Legends has the worst community?

I've been playing HotS for roughly a week now. I'm a four year veteran of League of Legends and boy, let me tell you: HotS has by far the WORST community I have ever seen. I'm not talking about isolated incidents. Seems like almost every game somebody has to piss me off with a stupid comment..

The problem is, that the game is aimed at a mostly teenage crowd (which increases the chances of immaturity & raised tempers), and that it is free to play. This leaves it open to creating multiple accounts, simply to troll and flame, for their own amusement. And if they get banned? "Eh, I'll just make another free account". Most that come over seem to have what I like to call the 'Xbox Live Mentality' (F*ck your Mum, Get Cancer etc). Which is one of the reasons why I left Microsoft's consoles completely, not even playing them for the exclusives (as I do with Nintendo & Sony). It's unfortunate, and likely a small percentage of players, but they are widespread and vocal enough, that it leads people to believe that there are more of them, than there actually are =/

i mean its up there! but im sure people will have difference of opinion on this matter depending on how often they played this game, and if they play other games. I mean its not to bad overall. Ive had my fair share of good and bad players. But i would say of the genre itself its one of the worst ive played. I have probably played most other MOBA games and this is the only one that i have come across that seems very rude towards new players. which in my opinion is just pathetic! Heck i remember taking a break of League and playing Dota 2, had some people who knew i was i new to the game by the way i was playing, and decided to help me, giving me tips, help play with me, give me items. they were generally nice and wanted people to get better. I dont think i have ever seen that in League and probably never will.

I've played MANY games and been a party of the majority of those games' communities. Rather it be just as a lurker or contributor and in my experience, League's community is not even close to being the worst.

It isn't the greatest, but trust me, there are some really bad ones that make our community look like the promise land.

The top 5 worst that I have came in contact with are these:

  1. Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell
  2. Runescape
  3. Call of Duty
  4. Sonic the Hedgehog
  5. Counter Strike

Where do you think 80% HotS community comes from?

The fact that it's more teamfight based than LoL stresses out more ppl too.

I think most games have similar levels of toxicity, its just that the nature of different game types causes us to experience it differently. Mobas specifically seem worse because its a team game that you aren't every allowed to leave. So when someone is an asshole you are stuck with them for 20-60+ minutes. And ya you can mute them but that limits communication of your team. If you were playing call of duty and someone is an asshole you can just leave anytime you want and find a new server. You also don't really have to rely on that person so you can just mute them without consequence.

the thing about gaming communities is that people usually play 3-5 other games max consistently so they only have a small idea of how good or bad those communities are in relation to other. I dont personally think league has a terrible community overall, there are those rotten apples but you usally run across agreable or at least bearable teammates and opponents. rarely do i ever see someone who is an outright assbag.

Want me to be honest? It has the most pussy, self entitled community out of any game. Literally every child that plays this game thinks the world revolves around them, has a meme section for the children to play, and 99% of the forums are about bans. They have a ban fetish, they want to feel powerful because they know in school and at home they aren't. :)

I expect downvotes, because each special snowflake wants to feel just like that, an individual, when i point out they are alike then that gets rid of the special snowflake that they want to be, making them sad and feeling unimportant.
