The New Rift

Does anybody else absolutely hate the new Summoner's Rift design? I feel like it has changed the game entirely too much... It's literally like I'm playing a completely different game now, and I don't like it one bit. It seems like what has just happened to League has been a recurring trend in most games after they have been out for a while and the player-base has had a chance to voice themselves to the devs and such - the devs try to meet too many expectations and "improve" the game so they keep said player-base, but in turn they ruin what already was a great game with all the changes they make. I've seen that happen to most mmorpgs, and having played almost everything out there (Ultima Online, EQ1, EQ2, WoW, Rift, basically you name it I've played it for >3 months), it is possibly the most disappointing thing in the world seeing a good game get wasted because of it's player-base constantly bitching and griping about one thing or another. Bugs are one thing, but changing the game entirely? I don't like the path League just took. Maybe it will grow on me, but as for now I'm not impressed with the changes.

Honestly, no not at all.

LoL's graphics WERE dated, and i still played it cause the game is great. I do notice that this LoL is a tad darker as opposed to old SR's neon-like colours, and honestly i love it, I found that that the colours in old LoL hurt my eyes after playing for awhile.

The graphics just got gooooood. Really good. and I think you are over-reacting to this, you are probably one of those people who don't really like change. Thats not a bad thing, just give it time, you'll get used to it.

Also, the new jungle mobs are so diverse now. i love it.

item 3714 plus i love this item to death

  • Also i totally agree with you about the community whining about every things, its ridiculous. Just try to realize that right now you are whining about the new map "changing" the game. Please don't be someone you don't like.

In regards to your last paragraph, 90% of people, the other 10% of which probably legitimately are too young to understand the game fully, and they will all say that the new map changed the game entirely. It did change the game. If you don't think it did, you had no idea how the game was supposed to be played in the first place. Instead of the game revolving around mid-to-late-game team composition and team fighting, it is essentially all about gaining the early advantage with a strong, sure-to-win bot lane duo and a healthy jungler that doesn't need to gank and taking the first dragon, then bum rushing towers at level 9 with pots shortly thereafter. You can literally snowball your entire team to win the game with the first dragon kill and from thereon denying the enemy any dragon kills. If that isn't "changing" a game, I don't know what is.

To me, the graphics don't even look that much better. Slight detail improvements that make it look less like Capcom Vs. Marvel and more like WoW, but still keeping the same character models for most champions? The models no longer flow on the backdrop of Summoner's Rift like they used to. They're going to have to rework all champions movements to fit the new style of the Rift. If you can't see that, you aren't looking deep enough into detail to even start to talk about graphics.

Ill weed out the opinions and we can talk about the more core functions, but first i disagree with the champ movements, they seem fine to me. Maybe i haven't looked hard enough but if i can play a full ranked match without once noticing anything about how the champs move i think you are actually looking TOO deep.

Anyways, i agree and disagree with you. Dragon is a brand new objective, and is essentially the new baron buff. This is good and bad, the team that gets the dragon gets a hefty 8% dmg boost, but that still doesn't mean its an insta win. Good plays can still counter that 8% damage. I mean i came back from multiple matches where the team was fed ten-fold our kills. Comebacks are always possible, even if the enemy gained a small early game bonus.

If a jungler isn't ganking and is just soloing dragon, that means that the other team needs to ward better. Trust me it isn't hard to steal drag from a solo ww. If its the whole team getting drag you can take advantage of that by pushing down different objectives, like pushing top while the whole enemy is getting drag and getting two towers. You can balance things out.

strong bot lane duos can be countered by a junglier that knows his shit and can actually gank.

The game is different, you will get used to it as its not too different as you think.

However i love you and i agree with you in some ways. I do think early game pressure is too intense and it blurs the line between late game and early game champions.

I understand objective control and how trading turrets for Dragon kills work, but the global gold needs to go up for turret kills. In my opinion, the outer turret kills should give more global gold to compensate for the potential snowball from Dragon kills, because as soon as the first is taken the team who took it has that significant advantage and it is literally up to the other team completely outplaying in a team fight to come back into the game. Two more Dragons down and they deal 15% more damage to turrets, which is insane for pushing. That first Dragon is huge.

Edit was merely for fixing grammatical errors.
