Need Advice on my Provisionals for my smurf account

Hey I just recently hit level 30 on my smurf account, and was curious to if I should solo queue or duo queue my provisionals. The reason I am asking this, is because if I duo with lets say a plat or diamond player, will I be placed in high gold to low diamond depending on my friends mmr? Or is it just better to Solo queue and hope for at least Gold 5. Trying to start this smurf in Gold or higher, but please let me know what you all think on what I should do. Thanks and any help is appreciated!

well its based on your mmr at the end right? in theory your mmr would be higher if you played with your plat friend right? becuase it would increase the mmr of the match because he was there, so if you won it would be worth more? honestly that whole system is confusing, so i dont know. But there is my guess.

I went 8-2 in my ranked provisionals (first time ever) and got placed silver 1 (losses were Games 3 and 8). I note this because I'm pointing out that even getting 2 bad teams in 10 matches could therefore result in you not getting gold if you solo.

You can't duo queue with anyone above gold, as you're unranked. I'd recommend duo queuing with someone in high gold, preferably someone with low Platinum mmr. That way you'd probably get placed in gold as long as you win 3 or 4 or more games. If they're Platinum mmr they will probably get promoted during your provisionals though, so you may not get 10 Games with a gold 1 (I'm assuming since you're a smurf you'll be able to win most matches at high gold mmr).
