New to streaming

My name is Sgt.Smokes and I was thinking about getting into streaming recently. Last night I downloaded both Xsplit and OBS and sort of got how to use Xsplit. I was struggling with getting my layout that I found online to fit the stream. Another problem I was coming to was not being able to talk on the stream. If anyone could help me figure this out that would be much appropriated.
