What Riot Should Do To Multiple Case Offending Smurfs

Now as many of you guys know smurfing is a large problem with League and it is causing a bad time for newcomers. I think Rito should just roll out the IP bans to people who had multiple smurfs or get perma banned then another account gets made by the same guy on the same PC. Rito might have a better way of detecting this stuff but seriously, smurfing in League needs to stop. Why would an experienced player make a new account just to win against those who just got the game? It's just wrong...

IP bans are not a good solution. Most people, specifically in the US, have dynamic IP addresses which means they change. If you unplug your router and wait a minute then reconnect it you would most likely have a new IP address. So if you were IP banned, not only would you be able to avoid it easily, but also there is an IP address floating around that ISPs network that will get assigned to someone else.

Their smurf detection is pretty swift. It doesn't take much time for smurf accounts to largely get matched with only other smurf accounts.

There is nothing wrong with smurfing. Who does it hurt, the people in Bronze? The smurfers will be out in no time. The unranked players? Here I agree that after a few games the system should be a bit more aggressive perhaps ranking on a KDA basis rather than W/L.

But smurfers should not be punished in any way.

I personally like having lower ranked accounts so I can play champions that I'm not as good at in ranked to practice. It's more effective for me than jumping in first time galio in ranked in plat.

What happens when I get on a bronze account and play Riven and go 30/2? The people who lost, lost one game because of me. That's nothing in the grand scheme of things. The people who won, won a single game because of me. Generally speaking I would only affect any person once with either a win or a loss. That's negligible.

I also have smurfs to play with my friends who just started playing league and are sub 30. My normals mmr brings in people from high gold to low diamond. Average that with a level 6 account and the enemy team could have anything from sub 30's to a challenger player (I'm speaking from experience). If I too am playing on a sub 30 account, yes I might find a smurf, but generally speaking the game is MORE balanced than if I was playing on my main. If it's more balanced it's more likely for them to have fun.

I have a smurf I grinded to plat, why should I be punished just because I play better than you? It isn't like reaching X rank means someone has an advantage you don't, it just means they're better than you. Now, if you're talking about smurfs who are toxic, then you might be onto something.

It's worth saying that there's a post where Lyte explained that the system DOES detect smurfs and "marks" their account so they mostly play agaisnt other smurfs.

"Account sharing is a bannable offense :\ Also, you're creating a worse experience for your friend because you're getting tagged as a smurf and that's why you're being matched against other smurfs."

They tried an IP ban several years ago and knocked out an entire college dorm. They reversed it, and decided IP bans were off the table as a punishment option.

Smurfing isn't punishable.
