why bronze 5?

Well, I main support to start off. I went through my provisionals playing as thresh mainly, but i would always get over 15 assists, 0-3 kills, and about 5-10 deahts (sacrifices etc...) and I've been told by a lot of people that I play a really good thresh, so now I'm wondering why I got in bronze 5? my only logical estimation is that assists don't mean anything, and it's all based on how many kills and deaths you get during games. Based on that, I can't play support in ranked if I'm trying to escalate in the ranks. It's just such a depressing thing, after how hard I was trying in all my games. So do I have to just play top and jung (the only other lanes I can play well) until I'm in like gold or something? Someone please explain this.

forgot to mention: I won 4/10 of my provisionals and got bronze 5, but in pre season I won 2/10 of my provisionals and got bronze 1

kda actually doesn't matter. it's based off wins and loses and who you are fighting.

Lmfao at sacrifices..... just because you're support doesnt give you an excuse to die. If you have 5+ deaths even as support you have a ton to work on. Also you talk about how hard you try.... a lot of people try hard as fuck bro. It happens. And it's not about kills and deaths its about wins and losses.
