Season 3 vs 4 Loading Screen Borders Question

So last season I reached diamond but say this season I just stay in plat, will I lose my diamond loading screen border for next season?

I am under the impression that the border applies to your current ranking, so if I am correct then yes, you will not retain the Diamond border.

However, I am not 100% certain of this, but this is how I understand it.
