How many games do you have to lose to drop a division?

I just started ranked, and I'm wondering how many games do I have to lose to drop a division. I'm silver 5 and after two losses I'm concerned with whether or not the next loss will drop me to bronze 1. Furthermore is there a website or something that explains the way ranked works in League of Legends because I can't seem to get a valid source of information.

it varies depending on your mmr, usually its about 3 losses.

It is entirely dependent on your MMR, if it falls to a point where you are lower than a division under you it will drop you. It isn't a set number of games, but I wouldn't stress too much about going down. You can climb back out despite the negative stigma that goes with being bronze.

My friend told me I can't get demoted because I'm in a 5th division and I did some research and most sources say so as well but I don't know.

Yeah it just depends on the MMR you have which is hidden for the most part.

You can look up a rough estimate of where you stand here http://na.op.gg/summoner/userName=Fm+Dawn+Savior+

If that thing ever says you're lower than most in that league then it'd probably be an indication of dropping. I'd guess it's least somewhere around 10-15 losses in a row for your MMR to drop that badly though. I was at Gold 5 last season and went about 9 losses in a row and didn't fall, so was getting a bit worried when that happened, so I know the feeling.
