Season End Rewards

So I hit gold this season, I want to continue playing ranked to see if I can move up a division but currently at 0 LP. I really don't want to drop tiers from inactivity since I haven't played a solo queue game since beginning of last month. I was told by a friend that even if I dropped down to silver again, I would still get gold tier rewards just for reaching it this season. I really don't think this is true but I want to make sure before continuing ranked this season. If anyone knows for sure and can confirm it with some sort of proof from riot, I would appreciate it.
